Happy National Donut Day!

We get it. Sometimes life calls for a glazed, sprinkled, or cream-filled moment of joy. And honestly? Going through life completely deprived of the things that bring you happiness isn't wellness either.

Here's our take: wellness isn't about perfection. It's about balance.

So today, enjoy the donut. Then tomorrow, take the walk. Schedule the physical. Drink the water. Get the screening. Call your friend. The little choices add up over time, and one treat won't undo a healthy life.

Spice things up, savor the moment, and remember that real wellness leaves room for the sweet stuff too.

What's your go-to donut order? Drop it in the comments!

It's National CPR and AED Awareness Week, and we're calling on every workplace to take a hard look at emergency preparedness.

Sudden cardiac arrest can happen anywhere, anytime, and survival rates climb dramatically when bystanders are ready to act. That readiness starts with workplace policies that prioritize life safety.

What forward-thinking employers are doing:
✔ Installing AEDs in accessible, well-marked locations
✔ Sponsoring CPR certification for staff through the American Heart Association or Red Cross
✔ Reviewing emergency response plans annually
✔ Building a culture where health and safety go hand in hand

Preparedness isn't optional. It's leadership.

This week, ask yourself: Is my workplace ready?

Welcome to Men's Health Month! Time to put guys' wellbeing front and center.

This June, we're shining a spotlight on the biggest health risks men face and why early action matters. Heart disease remains the #1 killer of men in the U.S. Mental health concerns often go unspoken. And cancers like prostate and testicular are far more treatable when caught early.

Here's the good news: prevention works.
✔ Schedule that annual physical you've been putting off
✔ Know your numbers (blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar)
✔ Talk openly about mental health with someone you trust
✔ Move your body daily, even just a walk

Men's health is family health. When the men in our lives prioritize their wellbeing, everyone benefits.
Let's make this the month you take that first step!

They're essential!

The incredible advantage of onsite workplace screenings? Your team gets checked without ever leaving the building, no scheduling headaches, no time off needed. We catch the risk factors early, so strokes don't have a chance!

When it comes to skin cancer, YOU are your own first line of defense!

Regular self-exams between annual dermatologist visits are one of the smartest health habits you can build. Here's exactly how to do it:

→ Check your entire body- Use a full-length mirror in good lighting, front and back. Use a hand mirror for hard-to-see spots.
→ Look for new spots or changes- Pay attention to moles that have changed in size, shape, or color, or sores that aren't healing.

Early detection is the MOST powerful tool in treating skin cancer effectively! Schedule your annual dermatologist check-up, and make self-exams a monthly habit starting today!

Have you checked your skin lately?

Today, we pause.

On this Memorial Day, we honor the courageous men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Their bravery, dedication, and selfless service represent the very best of the human spirit.

At NDS Wellness, we are deeply committed to serving those who serve and protect, from our active first responders to the families of those who gave everything. Every health screening we provide, every life we help protect, is a small way of honoring that legacy.

Today, let their courage inspire us to live fully, take care of one another, and never take our health, or our freedom, for granted.

Thank you to all who served. You are never forgotten.

Here are real, actionable steps you can take today to protect your mental well-being at work and at home:

Try deep breathing — Box breathing or the 4-7-8 technique can calm your nervous system in minutes. Seriously, try it right now!

Move your body — A brisk walk or time in nature works wonders for a worried mind. Even 10 minutes makes a difference!

Talk it out — Sharing what's weighing on you with a trusted friend or colleague can help you feel less alone and gain a fresh perspective.

Set real boundaries — Protect your personal time. Work-life balance isn't a luxury, it's a health necessity!

Prioritize sleep — A rested mind is a resilient mind. Aim for 7–9 hours and protect that bedtime routine!

Women face unique health challenges that deserve serious attention, from reproductive health to higher risks of certain cancers and conditions. But here's the empowering truth: knowledge and early detection are your most powerful tools!

Screenings every woman should keep on her radar:

Sunshine feels amazing, but are you protecting your skin?

May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month, and here's a stat worth noting: skin cancer is the MOST COMMON cancer in the United States. The incredible news? It's also one of the most PREVENTABLE! 🎉

For employees working outdoors, and especially our brave first responders, sun safety is a non-negotiable part of the job. Your skin is your body's largest organ. Treat it that way!

Protect it today so you can thrive tomorrow!

Stressed or anxious?

There's actually a BIG difference, and knowing which one you're dealing with could change everything!

STRESS is usually tied to a specific situation. It fades when the stressor goes away.
ANXIETY is more persistent. It lingers for months, can feel overwhelming and out of control, and may start interfering with work, sleep, and daily life.

The GREAT news? Both are manageable with the right support!

Start with small steps: try deep breathing (box breathing or the 4-7-8 technique), get moving outdoors, and talk to someone you trust. If it feels like more, please reach out to a mental health professional. Help is available and it WORKS!

Your mental health deserves the same attention as your physical health. Always.
