👻 Spooky season looked good on our Novi team! 🕸️

Earlier this week, our Novi, Michigan office swapped business casual for capes, costumes, and a whole lot of Halloween spirit. 🕸️ Here’s what went down:

• A buffet spread that kept everyone fueled for the festivities
• A best costume contest full of creativity (and a few scary good looks)
• A best dessert contest that made judging a real challenge
• Halloween games with plenty of friendly competition
• A photo booth that captured memories we’ll be smiling about all year

59 minutes, 46.44 seconds. That’s how long one yo-yo kept spinning at the end of its string, earning a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for “Longest yo-yo sleeper.” 🏆

The secret is on the inside. Our MinebeaMitsumi colleagues in Karuizawa, Japan built an original yo-yo around a custom small-diameter ball bearing designed to cut frictional resistance to the absolute limit. Combined with more than 70 years of in-house ultra-precision machining expertise, the design keeps wobble and lost rotational energy to a minimum.

A few things we love about this one:

• It started with an engineer who fell for yo-yos as a student and joined MinebeaMitsumi because of its ball bearing technology

• It brought together the Ball Bearing Business Unit, Engineering Headquarters, and the Parts, Tool & Die Division through the INTEGRATION Project

• It turns ball bearings, which are usually hidden from view, into something the next generation can see and get excited about

That’s Monozukuri, the Japanese spirit of making things, in action.
