A major step forward for cancer care in our region! 🎗️

WVU Medicine Garrett Regional Medical Center was honored to welcome U.S. Sen. Chris Van Hollen and representatives from the offices of U.S. Sen. Angela Alsobrooks and U.S. Rep. April McClain Delaney as we recognized $1 million in congressionally directed spending to support planning for radiation oncology services at GRMC.

This important investment marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to expand access to comprehensive cancer care for patients throughout Garrett County and the surrounding region.

This funding brings us one step closer to making radiation oncology services available right here in our community and helping more patients receive the care they need closer to home.

We are incredibly grateful to our federal delegation for their advocacy and support, as well as our community partners who joined us for this special presentation.

Together, we are working toward a future where patients and families have greater access to the high-quality, compassionate care they deserve without having to travel far from home. 💙

Snake Bite? Every Second Counts.

If you or someone you know is bitten by a snake, don't wait for symptoms to appear. Seek emergency medical care immediately.

Here's what to do:
• 📞 Call 911 or your local emergency number.
• 🚶 Stay calm and move away from the snake to avoid another bite.
• ⏱️ Get medical treatment as soon as possible.
• 🏥 The emergency team at GRMC will evaluate the bite and begin the appropriate treatment, which may include antivenom and other supportive care.
• 📸 If it is safe to do so, take a photo of the snake to help with identification. Never attempt to capture or kill the snake.
• 💍 Remove any jewelry or tight clothing near the bite if it can be done safely, as swelling may occur.

When it comes to snake bites, every minute matters.

If an emergency happens, trust the experienced team at WVU Medicine Garrett Regional Medical Center to provide the prompt, expert care you need.

A Night of Celebration. A Lasting Impact on Cancer Care. ✨

We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support shown at the GRMC Foundation’s Summer Soiree!

Thanks to the generosity of our community, sponsors and everyone who attended, the event raised more than $50,000 in support of the GRMC Foundation’s Radiation Oncology Campaign. 💛

These funds will help support the expansion of the GRMC Cancer Center to include radiation oncology services, bringing patients the opportunity to receive comprehensive cancer care closer to home.

For many patients in our region, receiving radiation therapy currently means traveling significant distances—often every day for several weeks.

Bringing these services to Garrett Regional Medical Center will help ease that burden and allow patients to stay closer to the people and community who support them throughout their cancer journey.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, donated and helped make this beautiful evening such a success, along with our generous sponsors who made the Summer Soiree possible.

Together, we are taking an important step forward in expanding cancer care for our community. 💙

To learn more about the Radiation Oncology Campaign or make a donation, contact the GRMC Foundation at 301-533-4178 or [email protected].

Know Where to Go: ER, Urgent Care, or Your Doctor? 🏥

Not sure if you need emergency care, urgent care, or can wait for your primary doctor? GRMC is here to help you make the right choice!

Go to the ER if you experience: sudden chest pain, trouble breathing, severe pain, major injuries, or any life-threatening symptoms.

Visit Urgent Care for migraines, minor injuries, infections, or non-life-threatening issues that still need care today.

See your Primary Care Provider for routine concerns like colds, rashes, medication refills, or wellness checkups.

Knowing where to go can save time, reduce stress, and get you the right care faster!
