On June 25, 2026, the Native American Health Center (NAHC) was honored to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Seven Generations (7G) Scholarship Fund at our new Flicker Cultural Community Center—the first large community event hosted in our new building.

This year, we proudly awarded $60,000 in scholarships to 33 recipients, continuing our commitment to supporting Native students and NAHC staff as they pursue higher education and achieve their goals! We also celebrated 11 7G Scholarship recipients who graduated from their schools of choice, honoring their academic achievements.

During the celebration we honored Sophia Taula-Lieras, MSW (Umatilla, Nez Perce, Cayuse, and Walla Walla) for 10 years of dedicated service on the 7G Scholarship Committee. Her leadership and commitment have been instrumental to the success of the program. We were also grateful to welcome Eddie Madril (Pascua Yaqui) as our emcee and keynote speaker, who shared inspiring words celebrating the strength of Native culture, education, and community. We also recognized and honored our longstanding 7G Scholarship sponsors, whose generosity and continued partnership have helped sustain the program and make it possible to award scholarships to recipients for the past decade.

A special thank you to Natalie Aguilera, NAHC CEO, whose vision, leadership, and commitment have shaped the program over the past decade and created lasting educational opportunities for Native students and NAHC staff.

Thank you to our scholarship recipients, families, donors, sponsors, volunteers, committee members, and community partners for helping make this milestone celebration so meaningful!

Congratulations to all of our 2026 Seven Generations Scholarship recipients and graduates!

Last week, we were honored to welcome California Senate President pro Tempore Monique Limón and Senator Jesse Arreguín to Native American Health Center's new Flicker Building in Oakland.

Together with our partners at Satellite Affordable Housing Associates (SAHA), we showcased a transformative project that combines 76 affordable homes, 19 dental operatories, and 300-person capacity cultural center, all of which enhance culturally grounded healthcare that strengthen our community.

We are grateful for their continued leadership and partnership in protecting access to healthcare for California's most vulnerable communities.

Thank you for visiting, listening, and standing with Native American Health Center.

Last month, the San Francisco Community Clinic Consortium (SFCCC) celebrated its 43rd Anniversary Gala and honored the Clinic Navigators who help community members access care every day.

We are proud to recognize two Native American Health Center staff members for their outstanding work:

✨ Erika Vieyra Martinez, Member Services Coordinator II
✨ Alanna Birden, Member Services Manager

Of the many navigators honored across the consortium, only two were invited to speak—and Erika was one of them. She shared her story with grace, passion, and a deep commitment to the communities we serve.

Congratulations, Erika and Alanna, and thank you for helping our members navigate their healthcare journeys with compassion, knowledge, and care. 🦬

Last week, Native American Health Center celebrated the Grand Opening of Flicker — a project rooted in years of vision, partnership, and belief in what our community deserves.

Built in partnership with Satellite Affordable Housing Associates - SAHA, Flicker brings affordable housing, expanded dental care, and a cultural community center together under one roof in Oakland’s Fruitvale neighborhood.

This building represents investment in our community, in our future generations, and in creating spaces where Natives and all underserved families can access care, gather, and grow stronger together.

Thank you to every partner, donor, advocate, and supporter who helped make Flicker possible. 🧡

For years, our community watched Flicker rise from the ground in Fruitvale. On May 17th, we finally opened the doors and welcomed our community inside. 💙

At our Flicker Dental Open House, we saw children getting their faces painted, families touring the clinic, community members signing up for dental care, and generations gathering together in a space built for them.

Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us. After years of planning, dreaming, and building, it was powerful to finally see this space filled with the people it was created for.

Flicker Dental officially opens June 1. 🙌🦬

Seven Generations (7G) Scholarship applications close tonight at midnight!

To close out the 10 year celebration of our 7G scholarship, we're celebrating alum, Shyh Saenz! Shyh is Northern Cheyenne and graduated with a degree in Communication Studies and Promotions.

Today, Shyh serves as the Chief of Staff at Operativo, a campaign strategy and mobilization firm, where she helps organizations, advocates, and artists turn ideas into action through work focused on climate action, public engagement, political campaigns, and advancing diverse representation.

Shyh shared that the 7G Scholarship had a meaningful impact on her educational journey by easing financial stress and connecting her to a strong network of peers, mentors, and community support. She said the scholarship helped her stay focused on her studies while also providing encouragement, opportunities, and a sense of belonging throughout college.

Since receiving the scholarship, Shyh has continued giving back through advocacy and community engagement. Most recently, she spoke on her first panel at the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) End-of-Year Annual Conference in Las Vegas, where she discussed the importance of Native stories and representation in America250’s Semiquincentennial celebration.

As we honor a decade of the Seven Generations Scholarship, we’re proud to support leaders like Shyh who continue to create meaningful impact across communities. 🎓
