In April, BeWell staff members and participants spoke at the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Budget Hearing to advocate for the continuation of BeWell, a program that has made a meaningful difference in the lives of many community members. The program was recommended for elimination in the advertised budget.

Our advocacy efforts led to the partial restoration of funding! The funding reduction of approximately 40% will take effect on January 1, 2027. Between now and then, HopeLink and the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board (CSB) will work collaboratively to evaluate potential program changes and explore alternative funding sources, including Medicaid, with a goal of sustaining services at the highest possible level.

HopeLink's priority is to minimize the impact of any funding changes on the individuals who rely on this important program.

BeWell is a wellness and peer-led health coaching program offered through a partnership between HopeLink and the Fairfax-Falls Church CSB. The program helps youth and adults living with serious mental illness improve their physical health, build healthy habits, and work toward their wellness goals.

We remain committed to supporting those we serve and will continue to share updates as they become available.

As we wrap up Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re proud to highlight HopeLink’s Transition to Independence Process (TIP) program for this week’s !

TIP supports youth and young adults ages 14–29 across Northern Virginia who are navigating the challenges of transitioning into adulthood while experiencing emotional or behavioral difficulties. The program helps individuals build skills, confidence, and independence as they work toward their goals.

One TIP client came into the program needing support with mental health stabilization, housing, and independent living skills. With guidance from the TIP Team, the client completed important evaluations needed to access long-term disability resources. Since starting services, the client has maintained stable housing for more than a year, gained access to food and disability benefits, and made significant progress toward greater independence and daily functioning.

These services are available to everyone in our community, including individuals without insurance, because access to mental health support should never be out of reach.
