A little reintroduction for the new faces around here! 👋🏼
I’m Megan! Owner of Surf Salutations, Oceanside local, mom of two tiny humans (4.5 & 1.5) and one very sweet golden retriever. 🐾
About 3 years ago, my husband and I moved our little fam to North County after spending nearly a decade in Sydney, Australia. We knew almost nobody here!
Before all this, I worked in tech sales and leadership. Years of quotas, high-pressure environments, and the constant push to do MORE left me burnt out, with stress taking a toll on my health and autoimmune issues. I knew something needed to change.
I’d been teaching yoga on the side in Sydney, and it was always the part of my week that filled my cup. After becoming a mom, I wanted to keep working hard and building something meaningful, but with more flexibility, fulfillment, and energy left for my family.
So naturally, I decided to open a business. WAY less stressful, right? 😂
5 months after moving here, Surf Salutations opened its doors. No local student following or local network, and a whole lot to learn. And WOW, has it been a learning curve!
Fast-forward 2.5+ years, and this little studio has become so much more than I imagined.
I’ve watched strangers become friends, people find strength and confidence, and show up for themselves through ups and downs. We’ve celebrated babies, weddings, milestones, and countless sweaty and smiley moments in the studio.
Somewhere along the way, our students and teachers became this buzzing community of genuine, kind, fun-loving humans who feel like family.
I started Surf Salutations hoping to create a more fulfilling life for myself and my family. I never expected just how much fulfillment this community would bring into my own life. 🩵
Small business ownership is a wild ride (usually with about 37 tabs open in my brain 😅), and we’re still figuring things out. But slowly and surely, we’re getting there!
Every class booked, friend referred, and Google review means more than you know. Thank you for supporting this little neighborhood studio. 🩵
