💡 You do not have to qualify for Medicaid to get help with Medicare costs.

Many people assume they earn too much or have too many assets to qualify for assistance and never apply. But programs such as Medicare Savings Programs (MSPs) and Extra Help may help pay for:

• Medicare Part B premiums
• Deductibles, copays, and coinsurance
• Prescription drug costs
• Part D premiums and late enrollment penalties

It's also important to know that some assets often do not count toward eligibility, including:

• Your primary home
• One vehicle
• Wedding and engagement rings
• Burial spaces and certain burial funds
• SNAP (Food Assistance) benefits

⭐ The biggest mistake people make is assuming they won't qualify and never applying.

Hospice care can provide comfort, dignity, and support for people facing a terminal illness. Unfortunately, some bad actors take advantage of the Medicare hospice benefit through fraud, errors, and abuse.

🚩 Be alert for warning signs such as:
• Being enrolled in hospice without your knowledge or consent
• Being told you are terminally ill when you do not qualify
• Receiving offers of gifts or incentives in exchange for hospice services
• High-pressure marketing tactics
• Medicare being billed for services you did not receive or did not need

✅ Protect yourself by:
• Working with a trusted physician
• Reviewing your Medicare Summary Notice (MSN) or Explanation of Benefits (EOB) regularly
• Questioning offers that seem too good to be true
• Reporting suspected fraud, errors, or abuse

Scam warning! Medicare beneficiaries are being tricked into signing up for hospice when they thought they were signing up for a program that offered things like money, care items, and Ensure drinks. Check your Medicare statements for hospice charges and report any concerns to the SMP.

Call spoofing is when scammers use software to make you think you are receiving a local call or a call from agencies like Medicare, when really it's someone pretending to be them to get personal information.

Be careful when answering calls and never give out your banking or Medicare information to someone who calls.
