BREAKING NEWS!!
Yes, we have received the first shipment of 2026-2027 flu vaccines.
But...please please please, do not consider getting your flu shot in August. Maybe wait until at least the second or third week in September? Many places are encouraging you to get them ASAP but that is not really good advice at all. Looks like they are trying to meet some sort of August quota.
September and October provide peak protection before flu viruses start spreading widely and peaking between December and February. Keep in mind that it will take two weeks to build up full antibody protection and the effectiveness will start to wane after about six months.
We are certainly aware there might be special reasons for you to be immunized a bit early. These special reasons include pregnant women in third trimester and patients who won't be able to return to be vaccinated in September or October for whatever the reason.
All of us here at Omro Pharmacy look forward to seeing you for your flu and other necessary vaccinations soon.
