We just found out that my father in law has a terminal illness. We are heartbroken and feeling all the things. It sounds cliche but of course we assumed we would have more time. More time to navigate some tricky dynamics, more time to enjoy him and learn from him, and have him in our midst solving mechanical and technical problems as was his speciality.
It has been shocking and devastating on so many unique levels that we all have emotional motion sickness.
It’s not the first time tragic loss has visited my life and I would guess it’s also not the last.
Reminding myself of these anchoring truths so that I can stay upright and move thru this in changeable reality with as much depth and authenticity as possible.
Sending love to everyone who has known the complex terrain of tragic and unexpected loss.
Love on, and be gentle with yourself.
