To dermaplane or not to dermaplane? 🤔
Unfortunately, there’s a lot of misinformation on social media especially when it comes to skincare. Dermaplaning is no different. Here are a few things you need to know up front about this treatment:
1. Dermaplaning done correctly with the appropriate angle and pressure can be beneficial to your skin. Done incorrectly, it can cause irritation, inflammation, and breakouts.
2. DP looks deceptively easy to do. It’s just shaving, right? Absolutely not! We are removing vellous hair AND dead skin cells and excess oils. Opt for professional treatments with a trained esthetician over using at home blades to avoid potentially weeks of breakouts and irritation.
3. Dermaplaning does not hurt. Most clients find the treatment quite soothing. If you have sensitive skin and there’s any worry of irritation, your esthetician should already be well aware of this. Be sure to discuss any worries prior to treatment.
4. This treatment is beneficial if done prior to an event and as always, timing is key. If you have an event coming up, inform our concierge. Dermaplaning can allow makeup, and especially foundation,to go on so smoothly, making skin look pristine for up close pictures! No cakey makeup here!
5. Vellous hair will NOT grow back thicker or darker. You do not need to worry about peach fuzz turning into a full on beard!
6. As always, follow your esthetician’s recommendations for aftercare for the best results!
