Osawatomie State Hospital is proud to celebrate 160 years of caring, compassion, and commitment to the people of Kansas.
As we joined the Miami County Fair Parade with this year's theme, "Creating a Lasting Impact," we are honored to reflect on the legacy that has been built since 1866. For 160 years, generations of dedicated employees have made a difference in the lives of patients, families, and our community. Their compassion, resilience, and service continue to leave a lasting impact that reaches far beyond our campus.
We invite everyone to help us celebrate this historic milestone during State Hospital Day on Saturday, November 7, 2026. The event will be open to the public and will offer an opportunity to learn about the hospital's rich history, recognize those who have served, and celebrate the role Osawatomie State Hospital has played in our community for more than a century and a half.
Here's to 160 years of healing, hope, and creating a lasting impact—and to the many years ahead.
