When I rebranded from The Functional FNP to The Fusion FNP on Instagram, I wasn’t exactly sure where that would take me, but it has led me to rebranding completely. I’ve been thinking a lot about what I actually want Green Medicine to represent moving forward, and I think part of this rebrand is finally putting words to something I’ve felt for a long time. I really don’t identify with “functional medicine” anymore. Somewhere along the way, functional medicine started to feel a lot like the conventional medicine it was supposed to be different from. Different labs, different supplements, different protocols, but still protocols. Still putting people into categories and handing them a plan based on the category they fit into. And when the protocol doesn’t work, then what? That just isn’t how I practice. It isn’t how I want to be treated either. I don’t want to walk into someone’s office and be patient number 47 with the same plan as the last ten people who had similar labs. I want someone to actually look at me. My biology, my lifestyle, my environment, my history, my nervous system, my light exposure, my nutrition, my hormones, my symptoms, my life. And that is exactly how I want to practice medicine. Some days that means homeopathy. Sometimes herbals. Sometimes circadian biology, nutrition, peptides, IV therapy, supplements, lifestyle work, or a medication when it is the right tool. Usually it is some combination of things, because people are complicated and I don’t think good medicine should fit neatly into one camp. That is really where this idea of Fusion Medicine has come from for me. Taking everything I’ve learned, continuing to learn more, and choosing what actually makes sense for the person sitting in front of me. Personalized, thoughtful, advanced medicine without allegiance to a protocol, a modality, or a label. If I’m going to walk my talk in my own life, I want Green Medicine to walk it too. And I think this next version of the practice is going to feel a whole lot more like me.
Welcome to the advanced side of medicine - Fusion Medicine - where we do personalized treatment, not protocols.
