Lewis E. Leavens, 84 of Oswego, New York, died on 10/22/2026 at Oswego Hospital.
Lewis was born on 7/22/1942 in Oswego, NY, to Lewis A. Leavens and Gladys (Baker) Leavens. He graduated from Oswego High School. He served in the U.S. Navy.
On 7/24/1965, he married Frances (Godfrey) Leavens at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Minetto, NY. They were married for more than 61 years.
Lewis worked at Wade’s Diner as a cook and at Columbia Mills in his younger years. He was a Teamsters of Local 317 of Syracuse where he was employed for 35 years traveling all over the United States. Lewis was also a member of the DA Lodge in
Oswego, NY, and a Lifelong member of the Minetto Fire Dept.
Lewis was an avid sportsman hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He spent Saturday nights in the summer at the Oswego Speedway cheering on his favorite race car drivers. As his health failed the wonderful security team would ensure he made it to the stands and he was always grateful. One of his biggest highlight of his days was coffee with his friends Joe and Jane Catalone ,Kevin Coleman and his brother Edward at the garage coffee table.
Surviving are his wife Frances (Godfrey) and daughters Theresa Leavens and Shelly (Leavens) Sereno and grandchildren Elisa (Eric) Wood and Chelsea (Alex) Stein, Joseph Sereno and Shannon (Perrin) De Jonge. His great grandson Ean Wood and
soon to be Great Grandson Baby Stein and Caleb, Colton, Cooper, Alex, Phelan. His brothers Joseph Leavens, Edward Leavens, David Leavens, and one sister Barbara LoVaglio.
Lewis was predeceased by his parents Lewis and Gladys Leavens, brother Donald Leavens, and sisters Mildred Woodward, Betty Seldon, Linda Straight, and Gladys Schrader, his son-in-law Louis J. Sereno Jr., Mother and Father-in-law Dean and Arffia (Ferraro) Godfrey, and brother-in-law Dean Godfrey.
The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, November 7 th 2026 12:30-3:00 at the Dowdle Funeral Home with services at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the local Veterans Association.

Donald E. Vincent, 73, a resident of Fulton passed away on September 28, 2026.
Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Howard and Katherine (Holt) Vincent.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Oswego County for many years and loved buying and selling old cars.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy (Cronk) Vincent, his son, Donald (Mary) Vincent Jr. of Oswego, granddaughters, Allie and Killian Vincent, his sister, Barbara Hughes of Oswego and nephew, Sean Hughes.
He will be missed by all!
Funeral services are private and at the convenience of the family.
There are no calling hours.

Carol A. Sanford, 89, a resident of Minetto passed away on September 27.2026.
Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Norine (Comerford) Tripp. She graduated from St. Mary's School and Oswego High School.
Carol was a cashier for Beneficial Finance for almost thirty years and a Teacher's Aide for the Oswego City School District for sixteen years,
She enjoyed playing golf and gaming, was a past member of the Catholic Daughters of America, an associate member of the Ancient Order of the Hibernians and was a long-time member of Our Lady of Perpetual Church in Minetto, as well as spending time with her children, grandchildren.and great grandchildren.
Surviving are her daughters, Patti Vanella of Florida, Terri (Terry) Dopp of Redfield,her son, Michael (Francine) Sanford of Oswego, four grandchildren, Chris (Liz) Jock of Oswego, Ryan (Lily Moytka) Jock of Oswego, Jon (Jackie) Sanford of Virginia, Sarah (Brandon) Mynhier of Tennessee; a brother, Sam (Pat) Tripp of Oswego; and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard (Ike) Sanford and a brother, James Tripp.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Minetto.
Entombment will be in All Saint's Mausoleum.

James A. Boyer, 88, a lifelong resident of Oswego, passed away on September 23, 2026.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Francis and Edith (Haley) Boyer. He graduated from St. John’s School and Oswego High School and received his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from SUNY Oswego.

James proudly served in the United States Army in the late 1950s. A talented electrician, he worked for Alcan Aluminum for more than 25 years, where he served as a foreman before retiring in 1993. A hardworking and devoted provider, James spent many years working long hours and demanding shifts to support his family and provide his children with opportunities that were important to him.

James was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church. His Catholic faith and the education of his children were deeply important to him. He and his wife, Margaret, made Catholic education a priority for their family, sending their children to Catholic schools throughout their grade school and high school years.

Family was at the center of James’s life. When his children were growing up, summers were filled with camping and fishing trips, as well as family day trips to Niagara Falls and area theme parks. These annual outings became cherished family traditions and created memories his children carried with them throughout their lives.

James shared 66 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Margaret “Peg” (Walker) Boyer. Their life together was built around their devotion to one another and to the family they raised together.

Following his retirement, James became governor of the Oswego Moose Lodge. During his tenure, he helped turn around the lodge’s finances and revitalize the club. He was also an avid golfer and reader and a devoted Buffalo Bills fan.

James is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret “Peg” (Walker) Boyer; five children, Kelly (Dennis) Rothwell of Oswego, Yvonne Brown of Oswego, Joseph Boyer of Oswego, John (Barbara) Boyer of Manchester Center, Vermont, and James C. (Kevin) Boyer of Moravia; five grandchildren, Jay B. (Carol) Brown, Brandon Brown, Danielle VanVorst, Justine (Jason) Niver, and Gabriela Boyer; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his son, Robert Boyer.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 3, at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the Good Shepherd. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Friends may call at Dowdle Funeral Home on Friday, October 2, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in James’s memory to Trinity Catholic School of Oswego.

Gary W. Donahue, 74, passed away in his home on September 8, 2026.

Born in Oswego, Gary was the son of the late Alfred and Violet (Hill) Donahue and a graduate of Oswego High School.

Gary was predeceased by his loving wife, Bobby Jo Donahue, who passed away 20 years ago. They were married for 33 years and made their home in Liverpool, where they enjoyed their home along the Seneca River and shared many wonderful memories together.

He was also predeceased by his brother Alfred(Dunk)Donahue.

Gary was employed by Carrier in Syracuse for 25 years before retiring . He will be remembered by many for his contagious laugh and wonderful sense of humor.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed collecting knives.

He is survived by his three children, Crystal Morales (Frank Morales) of Portville, N.Y.; Matthew Donahue (Mara Donahue) of Baldwinsville; and Michele Donahue (fiancé Scott Redden) of Baldwinsville; three sisters, Lilia Richardson, Pamela Powers, and Sally Donahue, several nephews and five beautiful grandchildren, Christian, Julian, Kyle, Isabella, and Ethan.

Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Dowdle Funeral Home in Oswego. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m.

William V. Finn Jr., 88, a resident of Oswego passed away at his home on September 3, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., He was the son of the late William V. and Helen (Barry) Finn Sr. He received his Bachelor's degree from the State University of Oswego and his Master's degree in Education from Syracuse University. He started his teaching career as a Special Education Teacher and retired as the Head of the Reading Department. William retired after 34 years having spent his entire career with the APW School District. Due to his love of Teaching he then worked at the National Grid Energy Center as a Tour Guide at their Edcation Center.

William was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the early 1960's. He was also a proud Member of the New York State Teacher's Association. He had several hobbies and interests including completing the daily crossword puzzle (in pen), golfing and woodworking. He would spend hours in his shed making things for his family and friends. One of his biggest loves was caring for the numerous Dogs he had over the years. He could always be seen in his neighborhood walking his Dog multiple times per day. William enjoyed spending time with Family and Friends, especially his monthly Lunch Date with close friends. A Special Thank You to Bill Reidy and Sam Amedio for helping make sure he made it to the lunch AND their home visits.

William was also know for his sense of humor, always starting a conversation with a joke. The highlight of each year was his Christmas Gift exchange with his Sister-in-Law, Kay Bradshaw. They would exchange gag gifts for years with each trying to 1-up the other.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, the former Sally Donovan, and four sons: William (Tonya) Finn of Newark and Gary (Laurie) Finn of Oswego. Robert Finn of Oswego, Daniel Finn of California, four grandchildren, Emily Finn, Katie Finn, Eric Finn and David Finn.

He was predeceased by his grandson, Tyler Finn.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00- 3:00 at the Dowdle Funeral Home with a service to follow.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
