Today we celebrated an incredible milestone as we honored Jackie Robbins on her retirement after 32 years of dedicated service on our Med Surg unit. 💙

For more than three decades, Jackie has touched countless lives through her compassion, expertise, and unwavering commitment to caring for others. Her impact on our patients, team members, and hospital community is immeasurable.

Thank you, Jackie, for 32 amazing years of service. We are so grateful for everything you've given to AdventHealth Ottawa and wish you nothing but happiness in this next chapter. Congratulations on your well-deserved retirement!

Our Family Birth Place team recently hosted a free community education event featuring guest speaker Emily Winters, RN, MSN, IBCLC, who shared valuable information on starting solids, baby-led weaning, and infant safety. We also had Abby Truman from Franklin County EMS talk us through infant choking safety. Thank you to all who joined us! We look forward to offering more free community education events in the future! 💙

Day 1 of Teen Safety Academy is in the books! 17 teens registered to attend and the week started off strong. Tomorrow is a full day of hands-on activities including traffic stops, DUI Investigations and Response to an Active Threat Event. At AdventHealth Ottawa, caring for our community goes far beyond the walls of our hospital.

We’re honored to partner with More Than Food Foundation to help provide blessing bags for children experiencing food insecurity while school is out for the summer. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our hospital team, departments across AdventHealth Ottawa donated the food that filled each bag, ensuring local kids have access to snacks and meals when they need them most.

A special thank you to our very own Laura Heyn for spearheading this meaningful project and bringing our team together to make a difference. Together, we’re living our mission of extending the healing ministry of Christ by caring for our neighbors - both inside and outside our walls. 💙

Connecting, supporting, and caring for our community. Yesterday, members of our Sports Medicine and Rehab team had the opportunity to attend a local support group meeting to share information about our lymphedema rehabilitation services and connect with attendees. We're grateful to the Franklin County Cancer Foundation, Inc for creating meaningful spaces that bring people together and provide support when it matters most!

After losing his dad to colon cancer, Ryan continues to honor his legacy through the recipes and traditions they shared. After visiting AdventHealth Castle Rock's new cancer center, 7-year-old Paige Twibell couldn't stop thinking about the people she met and the journeys they were facing.

Then she made a decision.

Instead of simply celebrating her upcoming birthday, Paige chose to grow out her hair and donate it to help create a wig for someone going through cancer treatment. Her reason was simple: her hair would grow back, and it might help someone else smile.

Sometimes the most meaningful gifts come from the smallest hands.
