Hi friends, I wanted to take a moment to re‑introduce myself and my practice, Anchored in Health, especially for those who are new here or haven’t heard my story.
My name is Amy Ester. I’m a Family Nurse Practitioner, a veteran, a wife, and a mom — and every part of my life has shaped the way I care for people.
My journey into healthcare began long before I ever became a nurse. It started in the United States Army. Serving in the military was the first thing that shaped my practice. The Army taught me discipline, resilience, integrity, and how to serve with purpose. It showed me what it means to show up for people with steadiness and grit, even in the hardest moments. Those lessons became the foundation of how I care for patients today — with intention, accountability, and a deep sense of responsibility.
As my career grew, I witnessed firsthand what healthcare disparity looks like. I saw people being rushed, overlooked, and treated like a number instead of a human being. I knew I wanted to build something different; something rooted in relationship, access, and genuine human connection.
That’s what led me to Direct Primary Care.
What is Direct Primary Care you ask?
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a modern, patient‑centered model that removes the insurance middleman and brings the focus back to the relationship between patient and provider. Instead of copays, deductibles, and surprise bills, patients pay a simple monthly membership that covers their primary care needs. DPC allows for longer visits, same‑ or next‑day appointments, direct access to your provider, transparent pricing, and care that is truly personal — not dictated by insurance rules.
But my greatest “why” comes from the most heartbreaking chapter of my life. I lost my son to stillbirth at 39 weeks. That loss changed me forever. It reshaped the way I see people, the way I listen, and the way I show up in every exam room. Grief taught me that every person carries a story, a fear, or a silent battle. It reminded me that slowing down, being present, and caring intentionally isn’t just good medicine — it’s sacred work. His life and legacy guide my practice every single day.
I’m also deeply shaped by the people who walk through life with me: my husband and our three children. Their support, strength, and love continually remind me why this work matters. They inspire me to lead with compassion, to model grit and determination, and to build a practice that reflects the values we live by as a family. Anchored in Health is where all of those experiences come together: my military service, my clinical training, my faith, my family, and my personal journey through loss and healing.
