The most effective tool in my treatment room…is your voice.🗣️✨
When you book a barefoot massage, it’s normal to wonder: Is this going to be too intense? I hear this a lot, and I want to clear the air: Deep tissue should never mean "painful." In fact, if the pressure is too deep, your nervous system triggers a "guarding" reflex. Your brain senses a threat and tells your muscles to lock up. When that happens, I’m not actually working with your tissue anymore. I’m just pushing against a wall of resistance. We’re working against your body instead of with it.
This is why I rely so heavily on your feedback.
When you tell me to adjust the pressure, you aren't being "difficult" or "weak." You’re actually helping me reach deeper layers of tension. When we find the point where the pressure is effective but your body still feels safe we "close the gate" on those pain signals. That safety is what allows the muscle to finally relax.
I’m the practitioner, but you are the boss of your session. Your comfort is the primary indicator of how effective our work will be.
So, next time you’re on my table: if it’s too much, tell me. If it’s just right, let me know. Your communication is what makes the magic happen.
