Grant funding in action 📚💙

Earlier this year, we shared news that CareFirstNY received support through the Twin Tiers Christian Holistic Living Grant from the Twin Tiers Christian Service Fund and the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes—and now we’re excited to share part of the impact that funding has made possible!

We were able to purchase a variety of spiritual care books and supportive resources for patients, families, and caregivers. These materials will provide comfort, education, encouragement, and meaningful connection throughout the hospice journey 🕊️

ICYMI: Thanks to our incredible community, this year’s Brunch in Bloom: Sip, Savor, & Support event raised nearly $22,000 to support CareFirstNY’s hospice care, grief support, and mental health counseling programs!

From heartfelt moments to powerful storytelling and community connection, the day was filled with meaning from start to finish—especially a moving tribute shared by twin sisters Lorraine Mehlenbacher and Elaine Klug in honor of their sister, Charlene.

A heartfelt thank you to our presenting sponsor The Dunn Group, along with all sponsors, donors, volunteers, and guests who made it possible.

Please join us in congratulating our Weekend LPN, Samantha McCullough, on her pinning ceremony at Corning Community College 🎓🩵🩺

This special milestone marks the completion of Samantha’s nursing education as she prepares to take the NCLEX and officially become a Registered Nurse! Making the moment even more meaningful, Samantha was pinned by her youngest son during the ceremony.

We are so proud of Samantha’s hard work, dedication, and commitment to caring for others. Once she completes her RN licensure, she will transition into a Weekend RN position here at CareFirstNY, and we couldn’t be more excited for her next chapter.

Congratulations, Samantha, and best wishes as you take this exciting next step—we’re cheering you on every step of the way 💙💛🧡

The moment our hospice social worker Diane spotted this rubber duck in her purse, she knew it had major Brandy energy. In fact, she said it felt like the perfect little “spirit animal” for our hospice LPN—fierce, fun, and fantastic, just like Brandy herself!

Since Brandy drives a Jeep (and Jeep owners know the tradition🦆), Diane teamed up with RN Case Manager Tonya while out on a patient visit to surprise her with a proper “ducking.”

Sometimes it’s the smallest moments that bring the biggest smiles. We’re lucky to have a team that cares deeply for our patients and for each other, too💛

Have a happy Friday, all!

What a cool event today at The Vincent House! 🔨🪵

Our Director of Community Impact, Cindy, and our Volunteer & Community Outreach Coordinator, Ashley, visited the timber raising in Wayland today, and wow, those kids worked hard!

So great to see such a beautiful structure be added to the property. Thanks to Jackie, Melissa, and the whole TVH team for inviting us out to witness this awesome annual tradition.

Bertha, one of our hospice patients, was recently all dressed up and ready for a very special day—attending her granddaughter’s graduation ceremony 💛

RN Case Managers Monica (left) and Tonya (right) had the joy of visiting her as she got ready.

We’re so grateful to Bertha for allowing us to share a glimpse of this meaningful day with her family—you looked lovely and we hope it was a great day!
