Back in the fall I started an "Introduction to Ayurveda" series. Life did what life does and I fell off posting about my journey. As my studies have deepened I feel ready to start this again. But we're going to start all over. Today we start with the very basic of basics...The Panchamahabhutas.
Ayurveda believes taht everything is made of the 5 elements: Akasha (Space/Ether), Vayu (Air), Agni/Teja (Fire), Jala/Aap (Water), Prithvi (Earth).
Akasha- Space/Ether is omnipresent and all pervading. Akasha provides the space in which the other 4 elements exist. Because of space we can differentiate between individual things and the separate parts that make them whole.
Vayu- Air is the force beyond all motion throughout the natural world.
Teja/Agni- Fire is responsible for energy and transformation.
Aap/Jala- Water is responsible for cohesion and nourishment
Prithvi- Earth is responsible for stability, support, and structure.

Memorial Day hits different when service runs through your whole family.
Both of my parents served, my godmother (who is my second mom) served. My grandfather served. I served. Some of my most cherished friends served. Today my son is an active duty Army Combat Medic, taking care of soldiers the way this tradition of service has always asked us to take care of each other. I am so proud of him!
I'm thinking of every family who has given someone to this country, especially those who didn't get them back.
To everyone who served, who is serving, and who loves someone in uniform THANK YOU, from the bottom of my heart.

When I was in Chiang Mai, Thailand studying traditional Thai Massage, every day we would start and end class with the Wai Kru. Wai Kru translates to paying respect to the Teacher. Today and every day I am grateful for the things I learned from my teachers!
The prayer is spoken in Pali, an ancient language from India. This is what those words mean:
We invite the spirit of our founder, The Father Doctor Shivago who comes to us through his saintly life. Please bring to us the knowledge of the nature. That this prayer will show us the true medicine in the universe. In the name of this prayer, we respect your help and pray that through our bodies you will bring wholeness and health to the whole body of our client.
The god of healing dwells in the heavens high while mankind stays in the world below. In the name of the founder, may the heavens be reflected in the earth below so that this healing medicine may encircle the world. We pray for the one whom we touch that he will be happy and that any illness will be released from him.
