Throughout our time with you and your family, we will be a guiding hand helping you make the right choices. In August of 1917, J. Lewis purchased the Joseph Quest Undertaking Company. The business was located on the corner of Church and Main Streets directly south of the Post Office. For several years the concern also operated a furniture business in addition to the mortuary. In 1929 the partnersh

ip was moved across the street to the Savoy Building. This building was razed in the late 70’s to make way for the new Palmyra State Bank. Sons of the founders, John B. "Jack" and George M. Lewis, constructed the current building located on the corner of Hamilton and Main Street in 1964. Both Jack and George have served for over 50 years in the funeral industry. Today, the grandsons of the founders David and Steve Lewis continue to operate the family business. An addition and complete renovation of the current building was completed just a few years ago. Lewis Brothers also operated ambulance service in Palmyra and Philadelphia until the Marion County Ambulance District was formed in 1974. For three generations and over 95 years the Lewis & O'Donnell families have served Palmyra and the surrounding communities with caring, dignified funeral services. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra, MO. Pastor Dewayne Larenson will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra, MO.

Guitars, Singing and Song Writing

This afternoon, friends and family gathered to celebrate the life of Larry Franklin Ridings. Larry was a musician and artist who loved playing guitar, writing songs, and traveling. He enjoyed simple pleasures like music, good company, a few beers, the outdoors, and digging for goldenseal and ginseng. Known for his witty, fun-loving, and easygoing nature, he will be remembered for his music, friendships, and vibrant personality.

Avid Sports Fan, Fishing and Camping

Today, we celebrated the life of Richard “Rich” Reiff at his Life Celebration. Rich never met a stranger. He had a heart of gold and was always willing to help others. He enjoyed bus trips, fishing, and camping. Rich enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs. He collected sports cards and followed NASCAR.

Dedicated Nurse, Devoted Mother and Compassionate Grandmother!

Friday we honored the life of Carole Ann Rose at her Life Celebration. Carole graduated from Palmyra High School and later from Quincy School of Practical Nursing, working as an LPN at Blessing Hospital and Maple Lawn Nursing Home. She was an advocate for equality in schools and care facilities. She loved sports, travel, and life’s simple pleasures—especially family time, Sunday dinners, her favorite music, and caring for her dogs. She devoted her life to her three boys, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the family and friends she cherished. She will be missed dearly by all those who loved her.

School Teacher, Dedication to Family and Life’s Simple Joys!

Saturday morning, we celebrated Alice Anne Gosney at her Life Celebration. Alice Anne was a devoted schoolteacher, homemaker, and community contributor whose life was guided by faith, compassion, and care for others. After moving to the Emerson Community, she focused on farming, family, and sharing stories shaped by her experiences during the Great Depression. She is remembered for her love of simple joys, deep dedication to family—especially her grandchildren—and the lasting kindness she showed to students and loved ones.
