Pain in your legs with physical activity? Cramping in your calves? It may be more than just fatigue.

(PAD) affects blood flow to the legs and feet — and it’s more common than you might think. Because symptoms can be mild or easy to mistake for something else, PAD often goes undiagnosed. Over time, reduced blood flow can lead to more serious issues if it’s not addressed.

The good news: PAD can often be managed with the right care. Treatment may include lifestyle changes, medication or procedures to help improve circulation.

Summer 2026 is officially in session! ☀️

For kids, the warmer months can be more dangerous. Children are more prone to dehydration, severe sunburns and accidents, resulting in an increase in pediatric emergency room visits nationwide.

Dr. Aziz Farhat—the Pediatrics Medical Director for MountainStar Children’s Services who works at Timpanogos Regional Hospital—joined Kelly Chapman & Dan Evans on Good Day Utah to talk about how we can prepare our kids to handle certain types of emergencies. Bottom line? It's important to have a conversation.

General Rules in an Emergency:
🔵 Stay calm so you can think clearly.
🔵 Get help as quickly as you can.
🔵 If possible, send someone for help.
🔵 Give first aid, but only if you know how.
🔵 Reassure the person that help is on the way.

Stomach pain is common, but sometimes it's your body telling you something more serious is going on.

If your pain keeps coming back or starts to interfere with eating, sleeping or daily life, it’s time to talk to your doctor. Call 911 or visit the ER if stomach pain is severe, prolonged or accompanied by:

- Bleeding
- Fever, nausea, vomiting, or chills
- Pain that spreads across your abdomen
- Severe bloating, especially if you can’t pass gas or stool
- Inability to urinate or significant pain or blood with urination

Heather Martinez RN, BSN, OCN – the Mountain Division Director of Oncology Nurse Navigation at Sarah Cannon Cancer Network – joined Fox 13's The PLACE to discuss the oncology services we provide in our community and across Utah.

On Feb. 21, 2026, Gretl Talbot looked in the mirror and saw her worst fear staring back at her... the 18-year-old Payson High School senior was having a stroke. Two months earlier, she'd completed the requirements to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) through Mountainland Technical College and she realized exactly what was happening. That's when her training kicked in with life-saving clarity.

Within just 3 minutes, Santaquin City Fire/EMS responded and Gretl was transported to Mountain View Hospital. Miraculously, Gretl recovered and was able to walk the stage at her high school graduation! But, before that, she reunited with the medical team who cared for her. 💙🧡

"I was really sad, honestly, to leave my nurses," Gretl told FOX 13 News. "Getting to thank them is really, really special to me because they're never going to know enough how much I'm thankful for them. They really saved my life."

Gretl's quick thinking was the difference between recovery and devastating loss.

"Time is tissue. Our brain is tissue," explained Amanda McCoy, the ICU and Cath Lab manager at MountainStar Healthcare's Payson hospital. "The longer we go without oxygen to vital organs and tissue, we lose that, and it's very hard to recover. Time was very important. And it was on her side, because she recognized all of the things that mattered."

The experience didn't just save Gretl's life — it revealed her calling. During the reunion, she shared news that brought her nurses to tears: she plans to pursue nursing at BYU-Idaho this fall.

Way to go, Gretl! We are cheering you on every step of the way. You will make the BEST nurse! 🎉🎉🎉
