Happy Birthday to Michelle Knight! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ’™

Today we celebrate not only an incredible leader, but an extraordinary person whose kindness, thoughtfulness, compassion, and unwavering support make a difference in the lives of so many every single day.

As the owner/founder of Integrative Health Services, LLC, Michelle leads with both heart and purpose. She continually creates spaces where people feel valued, heard, encouraged, and supported โ€” whether itโ€™s clients seeking healing, team members growing professionally, or communities in need of hope and connection.

Michelleโ€™s compassion extends far beyond leadership. Her genuine care for others, servant heart, and dedication to making mental health care more accessible continue to inspire everyone around her. She has built more than a practice โ€” she has helped build a culture rooted in empathy, encouragement, resilience, and healing.

Thank you, Michelle, for your endless support, your thoughtful leadership, and the kindness you pour into others every day. We are so grateful for all that you do and hope this next year brings you the same joy, encouragement, and care that you so freely give to everyone else.

Wishing you the happiest birthday and a year filled with blessings, laughter, peace, and continued success! โœจ๐ŸŽ‚

๐ŸŽ‰ Exciting Growth at Integrative Health Services! ๐ŸŽ‰

As our communities continue to grow, so does our team.

We are excited to announce that beginning in mid-June, Breanna Fickle, LMSW (under supervision of Caron Sandefur, LICSW-S) and Jinida Holt, LMSW (under supervision of Teresa Teer LICSW-S) will be joining Integrative Health Services and accepting new clients at our Pelham office and through telehealth services.

We are also pleased to share that Leah Crawford, ALC (under supervision of Shea Miller, RPT, LPC-S) will be relocating to our Alabaster office effective June 8 and is currently accepting new clients.

These additions allow us to continue our mission of providing timely, accessible, and compassionate mental health care to individuals and families throughout Birmingham, Shelby County, and surrounding communities.

We would also like to recognize Amber Bunch, ALC, (under supervision of Shea Miller, RPT, LPC-S) who was recently named Shelby County Schoolsโ€™ Therapist of the Year for the 2025โ€“2026 school year. ๐ŸŽ‰ Amberโ€™s dedication to the students, families, and schools she serves reflects the heart of what we strive to provide every day, and we could not be more proud of her accomplishment.

At IHS, we know that reaching out for support can be difficult. That is why we remain committed to reducing wait times, expanding access to care, and helping connect people with a therapist who is the right fit for their needs.

Whether you are seeking support for anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, addiction recovery, life transitions, or everyday stress, our team is here to help.

๐Ÿ’™ Support is here, and help is available.

๐Ÿ’™ Mental health care should not feel impossible to access.

For many people throughout Birmingham, Jefferson County, Shelby County, and surrounding communities, the process of finding a therapist can feel stressful before care even begins. Long waitlists, confusing insurance coverage, limited provider availability, schedules that donโ€™t align, financial concerns, and simply not knowing where to start can all make taking that first step feel overwhelming.

At Integrative Health Services, LLC, we believe mental health care should feel more approachable, supportive, and realistic for everyday life.

Thatโ€™s why we focus on making the process easier:

โœ” Low wait times
โœ” Telehealth appointments across Alabama
โœ” Multiple office locations in Pelham, Gardendale, and Alabaster
โœ” Easy online consultations to help match clients with a therapist who fits their needs
โœ” Flexible scheduling options
โœ” Multiple payment and insurance options
โœ” Therapists with a variety of specialties and approaches

We proudly accept many major insurance plans including BCBS, Cigna, Medicaid, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, VA Optum, and more.

Whether someone is reaching out for anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, addiction recovery, relationship stress, grief, ADHD, or simply because life feels heavy right now โ€” support matters, and access matters too.

Sometimes the hardest part is taking the first step. We want that step to feel a little easier. ๐Ÿ’™

You can be successful, responsible, dependable, and still be completely exhausted.

You can smile.
You can show up.
You can get everything done.
And still feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, disconnected, or empty inside.

This is what high-functioning burnout often looks like.
And more people are experiencing it than you think.

๐Ÿ’™ You might be experiencing:

Constant fatigue no matter how much you rest
Trouble slowing down or relaxing
Feeling guilty when you are not productive
Irritability or emotional exhaustion
Feeling emotionally numb or disconnected
Physical symptoms like headaches, tension, or sleep issues
Feeling like you are never doing โ€œenoughโ€

Burnout does not mean you are weak.
It often means you have been strong for too long without enough rest, support, or balance.

๐ŸŒฟ At Integrative Health Services, LLC, we want people to know this:

๐Ÿ’™ You do not have to wait until you completely break down to ask for help.
๐Ÿ’™ Rest is not laziness.
๐Ÿ’™ Taking care of yourself matters too.
๐Ÿ’™ You deserve support before things become overwhelming.

Therapy can help you:

๐ŸŒฟ Reduce stress and emotional exhaustion
๐ŸŒฟ Build healthier boundaries
๐ŸŒฟ Reconnect with yourself
๐ŸŒฟ Learn healthier ways to manage pressure and expectations
๐ŸŒฟ Create a life that feels more balanced and sustainable

๐Ÿ’™ Support is here. You do not have to carry everything alone.

There is so much pressure today to look like you are handling everything perfectly.

To stay productive.
To keep up with work.
To respond to every text.
To be emotionally available for everyone.
To maintain relationships.
To parent well.
To succeed professionally.
To stay organized, motivated, positive, healthy, and calm all at the same time.

And when people are struggling internally, many feel like they have to hide it because everyone else online seems to have life figured out.

But the truth is this:

A lot of people are overwhelmed right now.
A lot of people are emotionally exhausted.
A lot of people are barely holding things together while trying to appear โ€œfine.โ€

Mental health struggles do not always look dramatic. Sometimes they look like:

โ€ข Constant overthinking
โ€ข Irritability and burnout
โ€ข Feeling emotionally numb
โ€ข Difficulty resting without guilt
โ€ข Anxiety that never fully turns off
โ€ข Crying in private but functioning in public
โ€ข Feeling like youโ€™re failing even when youโ€™re doing your best

At Integrative Health Services, LLC, we want people to know this:

You do not have to earn rest.
You do not have to prove your worth through productivity.
You do not have to carry everything alone.

It is okay to ask for help.
It is okay to slow down.
It is okay to not have everything together all the time.

Therapy can help create space to breathe, process emotions, reduce burnout, and learn healthier ways to manage stress and expectations.

Summer is often painted as the perfect seasonโ€”sunshine, vacations, pool days, family memories, and nonstop fun. But for many people, summer can actually feel overwhelming, exhausting, and emotionally draining.

Schedules change. Kids are home more. Financial stress increases. Social media creates pressure to make every moment feel magical. And underneath all of that, many people are quietly struggling with burnout, anxiety, loneliness, or emotional exhaustion.

At Integrative Health Services, LLC, we want people to know this:

You are not failing if this summer feels hard.
You are not lazy if you need rest.
You are not โ€œdoing summer wrongโ€ if your life doesnโ€™t look picture perfect.

Sometimes summer looks like:
โ€ข Trying to balance childcare and work
โ€ข Feeling overstimulated and emotionally tired
โ€ข Worrying about finances or routines changing
โ€ข Feeling isolated while everyone else seems happy online
โ€ข Counting down the days until structure returns

And thatโ€™s okay.

Your worth is not measured by productivity, vacations, packed schedules, or how exciting your summer looks on social media. You are allowed to slow down. You are allowed to protect your peace. You are allowed to need support.

Therapy can help you manage stress, reduce burnout, improve emotional balance, and create healthier boundariesโ€”during every season of life.

๐Ÿ’™ Support is here.

A lot of people think recovery is only about stopping a substance.

But recovery is usually much deeper than that.

It can be learning how to sit with emotions you were never taught how to process.
Learning how to exist without numbing pain, fear, shame, loneliness, or overwhelm.
Learning how to rebuild trust with yourself after surviving in ways that once felt necessary.

Many people struggling with addiction are not weak or careless.
Often, they are exhausted.
Carrying trauma.
Carrying grief.
Carrying anxiety.
Carrying years of emotional pain without enough support.

Substances sometimes become a way to survive what feels unbearable.

That does not make someone broken.
It means their nervous system has been trying to cope the best way it knew how.

Recovery is rarely linear.
Some days feel hopeful.
Some days feel heavy.
Some days are simply about making it through one moment at a time.

But healing is possible.

Not through shame.
Not through humiliation.
Not through being told you should โ€œjust have more willpower.โ€

Real healing often begins with compassion, accountability, support, and learning that you deserve a life that does not revolve around survival mode.

At Integrative Health Services, we believe recovery deserves dignity.
People deserve support that sees more than their worst moments.

You are not defined by what you have struggled with.
You are still worthy of healing, connection, and hope.

05/20/2026

It can feel hard to reach out when you are struggling.

A lot of teens feel pressure to look okay all the time โ€” at school, at home, with friends, online, and even around the people who care about them most.

Sometimes they worry:
โ€œWhat if nobody understands?โ€
โ€œWhat if people think Iโ€™m dramatic?โ€
โ€œWhat if I should be able to handle this on my own?โ€

So instead of talking about what they are feeling, many teens try to carry it quietly.

But stress, anxiety, sadness, emotional overwhelm, self-doubt, burnout, and feeling constantly โ€œon edgeโ€ are not things a person is supposed to navigate completely alone.

Reaching out for support is not weakness.
It is not attention-seeking.
It is not failure.

It is often one of the strongest and healthiest things a person can do for themselves.

At Integrative Health Services, we believe teens deserve support that meets them with compassion, patience, and understanding โ€” not judgment.

Therapy can help teens:
โ€ข understand what they are feeling
โ€ข learn healthier ways to cope
โ€ข build confidence and self-worth
โ€ข improve communication and relationships
โ€ข feel safer expressing emotions
โ€ข learn that they do not have to carry everything alone

Sometimes healing starts with finally feeling understood.

If you are a teen struggling right now, or a parent worried about your child, support is available.

A lot of healing happens so quietly that other people may never fully see it.

Sometimes healing is not a huge breakthrough moment.
Sometimes it looks like:
pausing before reacting,
saying โ€œnoโ€ without explaining yourself,
resting without guilt,
recognizing your anxiety instead of judging yourself for it,
or realizing your body has been stuck in survival mode for longer than you understood.

Many people were taught to believe that strength means pushing through exhaustion, ignoring emotional pain, staying productive at all costs, or carrying everything silently.

Over time, that can leave people disconnected from themselves, overwhelmed, emotionally numb, or constantly on edge without understanding why.

Your nervous system was designed to protect you.
Some of the habits you developed may have helped you survive difficult seasons, stressful environments, grief, instability, or emotional pain.

But survival mode is exhausting when your body no longer feels safe enough to rest.

Healing is not about becoming a perfect version of yourself.
It is often about learning how to feel safe again.
Safe enough to slow down.
Safe enough to ask for support.
Safe enough to stop treating yourself like a problem that constantly needs fixing.

At Integrative Health Services, we believe therapy should meet people with compassion, not criticism.

You do not have to earn support by reaching a breaking point first.
Healing can begin in small, quiet moments of being understood.
