On behalf of the staff and family of T.W. Parks Colonial Chapels, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the family of Pastor John L. Gibson and the entire Rising Sun Christian Church community.

Pastor Gibson was family to us here at T. W. Parks being a long time best friend of our founder Mr. Tench W. Parks. Pastor Gibson lived a life of faith, service, and unwavering devotion to God and His people. As a beloved pastor, community leader, he touched countless lives through his compassion, wisdom, and commitment to sharing the Gospel. Through every sermon he preached, every song he sang, every prayer he prayed, and every life he encouraged, he left a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire generations.

While our hearts are saddened by this tremendous loss, we are grateful for the impact Pastor Gibson made on so many lives. His faithfulness to God’s calling and his love for others will never be forgotten.

May God’s peace, comfort, and strength surround his family, the Rising Sun Christian Church family, and all who mourn his passing.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY! Here’s an Interesting fact about Memorial Day. Did you know? Memorial Day traces back to 1865 when formerly enslaved Black Americans in Charleston, South Carolina honored fallen Union soldiers with one of the first known Memorial Day commemorations. They gave proper burials to soldiers, held a parade, sang hymns, and celebrated their sacrifice for freedom. Black history is American history. 🇺🇸 Today as we honor what started Memorial Day, as a people we honor all soldiers no matter the ethnicity who fought, made sacrifices and ultimately gave their lives for freedom sake #2026
