REBOOTING A STAGNANT PRACTICE

If your personal self-Reiki practice has gone quiet, the healing ability didn't leave you.
The attunement is still in your hands. The energy is still there. What went quiet was the habit, and habits are easy to rebuild.

Your return to healing can be really easy, and fun. To get the energy going once again:

✅ 1.) RECEIVE BEFORE YOU GIVE. Book a session with another practitioner, whether a friend or a professional. Let someone else's hands remind your nervous system what the flow of Reiki feels like, and how wonderful it is.

✅ 2.) SHRINK IT YOUR PRACTICE UNTIL IT FEELS RIDICULOUS. Just lay one hand on yourself for one minute, right now. ... Do it again before your feet hit the floor in the morning. Do it whenever you think about it today. The goal is contact, and it needs to be simple. Reiki doesn't have to be an hour everyday if you're just returning to it. You can build up.

✅ 3.) GO SOMEWHERE REIKI IS POPPIN.' A Reiki Share. A class. A room full of people who are practicing. Energy is contagious in the best way, and the amplification of Reiki will awaken every part of you. You'll leave feeling it in your hands whether you tried or not.

✅ 4.) DROP THE STORY ABOUT THE GAP. The months or years you weren't practicing are not a debt you owe. You have not failed. You're not in trouble. I promise you, you don't need to make up for lost time! Your practice begins again the moment you place your hands on your own body. Which could happen right now. And it gets to be fun!

I love watching former students reboot their practices. The practitioners I have watched struggle to return are almost always trying to return to the level they left at. Start smaller than that. Start so small it almost feels like it doesn't count.

That tiny little moment is where your practice lives. From there you can tend it into a nice healthy blaze!

Dailey

This past Saturday morning, someone brought flowers from their garden. Someone else brought delicious little mini muffins! I arrived just barely on time, smiling as we set up in a circle, the way we always do.

Amidst quiet chatter about vortex magnetized rosewater, the many Florida waters, and benediction oil, we managed to settle into a light-filled meditation.

"Shall we dedicate this work to something?" I asked.

Physical healing was the consensus. People shared their stories in snippets and casual talk.

Later, we took turns giving and receiving energy healing. An hour and a half later, the room had that delicious quiet that happens when people have genuinely slowed down and are emanating peace together.

This is a Reiki Share. We hold one every month, and they are all totally different.

The share is for practitioners at every level, from brand new to many years in, gathering to do the thing Reiki was always meant to be: a practice shared between humans with kindness and compassion.

I've been teaching Reiki for 19 years. And I still leave these gatherings feeling like something got set right within me.

If you have ever been curious about what it actually feels like to be in a room where energy healing is being practiced, Reiki is the most beautiful, forgiving, sweet way to experience that.

The magic unfolds on the first Saturday of each month!

blessings,
Dailey

Don't be too worried if things don't go your way. Think of those experiences as compost so that you can truly create the most clear-eyed, grounded, and joyful version of your life possible.

Sometimes what you believe is 'bad' or 'unlucky' is actually just the set of circumstances necessary to activate the new levels of thought and perspective that help you get where you wanted to go all along.

Keep going forward! 😊❤️ D

Honoring Beth Gray, Reiki Master

Today is the anniversary of Beth Gray's passing in 2008, and I want to honor her as part of the lineage that flows through Healing Heart Reiki.

Beth was a Reiki Master with a particular gift for the psychic elements of this work. Mrs. Takata, the woman who brought Reiki to the West, recognized something in Beth and offered her special exercises to develop those skills. That kind of transmission, from teacher to student, is what lineage is actually about.

Takata passed teachings to Beth that she felt would strengthen her capacity as a Reiki master and teacher.

When you learn Reiki from someone who is trained in Usui Reiki, you're receiving an attunement that connects you to the knowledge, life experiences, and compassion of everyone who came before: Beth Gray, Mrs. Takata, Dr Hayashi, and Mikao Usui.

We are empowered to teach and share healing in our own unique ways, but there's also a real blessing in being able to learn from the human challenges, and triumphs of those who have gone before us.

Our hands carry that transmission and lineage, whether we consciously know those stories or not.

Beth lived a full life in service of this work. She understood that Reiki is not separate from the rest of your life. It IS your life, lived with intention and presence.

That's what she teaches us, even now. I'm so happy to remember her in this way.

If you want to learn more about Beth's life and her dedication to this work, I can share her original obituary in the comments, just ask.

We honor you, Beth. Thank you for being an important thread in this lineage. ❤️

The Death Sigh 💕

I want to tell you about something I see when I'm doing Reiki. The client's whole body softens at once and their breath deepens. Then there's an audible exhale, like their nervous system is finally allowed to let go of something it's been holding onto for years.

I call it "the death sigh" because what's actually happening is a shift in brainwave state. The person is moving from survival mode into theta, the deep healing state.

With that sigh, something magical occurs: their nervous system begins to regulate itself. Stress hormones start to clear, and their body remembers how to rest.

I'm most likely to see the death sigh when I do a traditional Reiki session, starting at the head and laying hands sequentially down their body, listening for the areas that need longer application.

I see it less often when I'm working intuitively, laying hands in a different order, I think because the healing pathways are different in those cases.

But I also see it in my coaching calls, when I'm guiding clients through a grounding, or energy-based work that moves us into altered states. I love those calls. Because no matter what we're actually discussing, I can literally see their bodies beginning a deeper psychological and emotional recovery process.

Most people never experience this kind of deep rest. We're trained to work like dogs for survival, or for success, or because we love the work. And even when it's work we love, there's a real cost. Chronic stress literally rewires our brain over time. It shows up as complex PTSD, anxiety, depression, and mysterious immune disorders.

Stress is a silent killer because our bodies can only stay in survival mode for so long before something breaks.

Our body needs deep rest. It's designed to function with regular, consistent rest periods.

When I see the death sigh, I know my client's body is beginning a repair process that goes deeper than any conversation can reach.

Little moments like that contribute to really powerful long-term results.

Over time, these moments add up. They become the foundation of actual healing and a power move for sustaining well-being during periods of manifesting and creation.

Have you ever experienced 'the death sigh' in session with a practitioner?

I love the feeling when our body finally surrenders in the healing bliss.

Reiki Self-Treatment Is Not a Luxury

There's a particular exhaustion that comes from being the one who holds it all together. You know it. You've been in your body long enough to recognize that specific weight from the ten thousand small competencies you carry without thinking about it. You manage. You remember all of the little things. You show up. You fix what breaks.

The world has trained us to believe that showing up like this is enough, and that we should run this way indefinitely. That asking for help or taking time for ourselves is something we do after we've earned it through being productive. That's a lie.

Reiki self-treatments have taught me over and over again that our bodies don't ask for permission before they become depleted. We shouldn't ask for permission to carve out time to care for ourselves.

A fifteen-minute practice of laying your own hands on your own chest, your own belly, your own forehead is NOT a time luxury tucked in around the edges of a busy life. We need it. Laying on hands is how you tell your nervous system that you matter enough to be tended.

Our children, our bosses, and sometimes even we ourselves treat our energy like it's a resource to be extracted from, not a person to be honored and cared for.

When you practice Reiki on yourself, you don't have to think about fixing anything, or becoming more than who you are. Just remember that your own hands have the power to offer you the same love and nourishment you've been pouring out to everyone else.

What would it be like to start there, with yourself and a soothing hand on your heart or forehead, this evening before you go to bed? What if you could give yourself comfort, and a loving touch every day?

Even if it's only 5 minutes while watching the coffee pot, it's still a self treatment, and it feels so good.
