Today, my heart is heavy as I join so many others in mourning the loss of an extraordinary man, mentor, and friend, Mr. William W. “Buddy” Savin.
There are certain people who enter our lives and forever change the course of our journey. Mr. Savin was that person for me. When I was just beginning my path in funeral service, he gave me an opportunity that would ultimately shape my future. He provided the guidance, encouragement, and foundation that helped launch my career and become the funeral professional and business owner I am today.
More than a boss or mentor, Mr. Savin was a father figure. He believed in me, invested in me, and shared his wisdom generously. He taught me that funeral service is more than a profession—it is a calling rooted in compassion, dignity, integrity, and service to others. Through his example, I learned the importance of treating every family with care and every responsibility with excellence.
Mr. Savin’s influence extended far beyond the walls of the funeral home. He taught lessons about leadership, character, perseverance, and kindness that I carry with me every day. His guidance helped shape not only the funeral director I became, but also the person I strive to be.
The impact he made on my life and the lives of countless others cannot be measured. His legacy lives on through the families he served, the professionals he mentored, and the standards of excellence he upheld throughout his career.
I will forever be grateful for the time, knowledge, support, and confidence he poured into me. While I grieve his passing, I find comfort in knowing that a part of Buddy will always remain with me through the lessons he taught and the example he set.
Thank you, Mr. Savin, for believing in me, guiding me, and helping me become the compassionate funeral director I am today. Your influence will continue to inspire me throughout my life and career.
Rest peacefully, my mentor, and my friend. Your work here is done, but your impact will never be forgotten. You will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always honored.
With love, respect, and gratitude,
Lenwood J. Jones
