It takes a village to open a birth center, and we've got the best. We are proud to have the support of a growing coalition of electeds, foundations, and individual donors who are investing in their values and the science behind this center.

To our community - THANK YOU. We have already raised more than $14,000 towards our next fundraising goal. And we keep pushing.

Right now we're focused on expanding this support, inviting more people to invest in the birth center and its proven model of care, to make opening our doors in 2027 possible. If you haven't yet, you can donate the the link in our bio.

Thanks for being a part of the journey.

Our weekly feeding group is cancelled tomorrow, Thursday 4/23, as our lactation consultant and midwife are unable to attend. But free weight checks are still on! The wonderful Megan will be in the office and the scale is available if you want to come hang in the space.

Happy International Day of the Midwife! Here at PMC, we are committed to forwarding the work of midwives everywhere and are particularly grateful to our three amazing midwives working tirelessly to bring better birthing options to pregnant people here in Philly - Mac - Autumn - Payj - 🖤🏳️‍🌈👏🏻 drop a fun emoji in the comments to show some love for them and all the work they do

Additionally, and in honor of IDM2025, please consider a donation to PMC while we continue working toward our future birth center. Click the link in bio for more info!

Everyone has the right to manage their sexual and reproductive health, even in the most challenging circumstances. Midwives MUST be valued and included in every crisis response plan.

Our Clinical Director, Autumn and Executive Director, Steph will be attending this conference tomorrow at Temple, speaking on a panel discussing Equity and Inclusion in Birthing Practices from 10:30a-11:45. We’re so excited to represent PMC and the work we’re doing (and all the exciting things to come…) in Philly to make sure our Q***r and Trans clients (and ourselves) feel safe and cared for, clinically and otherwise. Check out the link in our bio for more info about the conference and to register for in person or virtual attendance if you want to support gender inclusive perinatal health in Philly! Hope to see you there 🌈🌈🌈
We’re in such good company with our panelists and keynote speaker Executive Director Beulah Osueke and Temple Beasley School of Law Dean Rachel Rabouché!

HAPPY SPRING! 💐🌸🍃PMC is excited to RE-launch our Spring Annual and WE NEED YOUR HELP to raise $100,000 by May 15th at givebutter.com/PhillyMidwives (direct link is also in the bio.)

As a private midwifery practice that relies almost exclusively on insurance reimbursement to make ends meet, we are both reliant on and grateful for the ability to bill insurance in order to remain financially accessible to clients. HOWEVER, insurance reimbursements are dismal at best and in order for us to avoid taking on more volume than we can handle and compromising our fabulous care, we are asking for YOUR HELP! Now through May 15th, donate to help fill these gaps and to help take the financial burden off of us so that we can focus on the families we love and care for. EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS and helps pay for everything insurance doesn’t, such as:

👼🏿on-call time: our midwives are on-call 24/7!
👼🏽office and clinical supplies
👼🏻travel time between two hospitals, our office and home visits
👼🏾administrative costs such as medical billing, scheduling and office management

and so much more.

🌻bottom line: running a midwifery practice is simultaneously rewarding and expensive and the services our midwives provide benefit everyone🌻

Help PMC continue to provide quality care by donating what you can! Click the link in our bio to donate and if giving isn’t an option for you, SHARE SHARE SHARE! Stay tuned in the coming month for more cute content, upcoming events to come see us in person AND more opportunities to help us reach our goal of $100,000 by May 15th🌈🦄🏳️‍🌈

Continuing on with our staff intro’s, another face you may recognize is our executive director and lactation consultant, Steph (also, hi, it’s me behind this metaphorical candelabra🖤) Stephanie Brown (they/them) is an IBCLC and reproductive health advocate. Born and raised in Los Angeles, they have made Philly their home since 2007 and have lived in Germantown since 2016. They are a staff lactation consultant at Jefferson Einstein Medical Center - Montgomery, facilitate two community-based infant feeding support groups, operate a private practice seeing clients in their homes prenatally and postpartum, and are the executive director for Philadelphia Midwife Collective after serving on the board since 2018. Their professional work experience includes over ten years as a nanny, full spectrum doula, and educator for Maternity Care Coalition and BADT. They center q***r and trans parents and have an inclusive practice that serves anyone and everyone. The work is home for them and they (try to) create that same safe space for clients. Steph offers evidence based, non-judgemental support and options through every feeding journey and choice. When not working, they can be found in the woods with their dog Peter or on the couch knitting next to their cat, Lawrence.
