Which day of the week do most deaths occur? According to an article by Sara G. Miller for Live Science, more deaths occur on a Saturday than any other day of the week.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s Wonder database contains data on all deaths in the U.S. from 1999 to 2014. The numbers reported below represent data collected from this period.

- Deaths from accidents peaked on Saturdays and Sundays. Car crash-related deaths, for example, were higher on Saturdays, followed by Sundays and Fridays.

- Firearm deaths also peaked on the weekends, increasing from between 23,000 and 25,000 total on the different weekdays to more than 31,000 deaths during the Saturdays and Sundays of the study period.

- On a much smaller scale, the greatest number of deaths due to "contact with a venomous plant or animal" (the official term for this cause of death) also occurred on Saturdays. Over the 15-year period, there were a total of 216 reported deaths from a poisonous plant or animal.

Other interesting data in the article shows that heart attacks peak on Mondays, with death from the flu and pneumonia occurring more on Tuesdays.

"We identify the flag with almost everything we hold dear on earth, peace, security, liberty, our family, our friends, our home… but when we look at our flag and behold it emblazoned with all our rights we must remember that it is equally a symbol of our duties. Every glory that we associate with it is the result of duty done." 🇺🇸

Grief is Love With Nowhere to Go

Grief isn’t something to ‘get over.’
It’s the echo of love that still lingers.

Some days it feels heavy, like a storm
Other days it’s a quiet whisper in the heart.

Healing doesn’t mean forgetting.
It means carrying their memory forward.

Be gentle with yourself.
Grief is love’s way of saying, “They mattered. They still do.”

You’re not alone in this journey.

Today marks the 82nd anniversary of D-Day.

D-Day was the name given to the June 6, 1944, invasion of the beaches at Normandy in northern France by troops from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and other countries during World War II. The amphibious assault—codenamed Operation Overlord—landed some 156,000 Allied soldiers on the beaches of Normandy.

Despite their success, over 4,000 Allied troops were killed by German soldiers defending the beaches. At the time, the D-Day invasion was the largest naval, air, and land operation in history.

I Am Standing Upon the Seashore
- Henry Van D**e

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side,
spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts
for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck
of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

Then, someone at my side says, "There, she is gone"

Gone where?

Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast,
hull and spar as she was when she left my side.
And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.

Her diminished size is in me -- not in her.
And, just at the moment when someone says, "There, she is gone,"
there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices
ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!"

And that is dying…
