Day 26 of Wildfire Preparedness month.

This video is a "must-watch" as it walks you through what to do if a fire is moving in your direction and you have a little time to make your house more fire-resistant. It gives you moves that will help firefighters see the house through the smoke and make it safer for them to fight the fire.

Day 25 or Wildfire Preparedness Month.

Wildfire embers are far more likely to start a house fire than flames. Most homes affected by wildfires are set ablaze due to wind-driven burning embers that land on or near the structure. These embers can start small fires in Zone 0, the immediate area around the house, which can spread upward and inward until the house ignites.

Day 24 of Wildfire Preparedness Month.

You have 8 days left to meet the Defensible Space deadline.

Start with limbing your trees. Scroll below to find more detailed information on Defensible Space.

And here's some food for thought. If you don't clear the fuel on the ground closest to your house, it can ignite from embers. Those ground fires are often called ankle biters by firefighters. That makes it unsafe for them to be on your property, which increases the chance of your home burning.

Day 23 of Wildfire Preparedness Month.

This is a video of the Camp Fire in Paradise with a compelling message as to why you should evacuate early if there's a wildfire nearby.

For CERT members, this video is a call to action to plan and be prepared for evacuating PMC should it be required. We hope this will encourage you to volunteer to participate in our evacuation drill at the end of July. Much planning has already gone into this drill. We can't know what a wildfire is going to do in PMC, there are just too many variables. However, we can start considering options and at least have a place to start.

We hope everyone watches this video and begins to consider the lessons from it, and prepare yourself and your family to evacuate early.

There's a lot that the PMC community does NOT know about our water supply, especially when it comes to disasters.
Earlier this year, MPM Water Company head, Rob Carruth, presented to CERT about issues related to water resiliency. Rob will present this information and more at the June 7 Town Hall event at 12 PM in the Clubhouse. Free Hot Dogs available. More Info Here:

We cannot stress the importance of evacuating once the order comes down. Don't be foolish and wait until it's too late. If there is a fire nearby, be ready to go. Once the order is upgraded from warning to "get the hell out," just go. If you require any assistance with evacuation, don't hesitate to tune in to RSN Radio, Channel 100, or contact neighbors in advance to arrange assistance.
