Dwyer, the original business was in a storefront on Peck’s Rd. at a time when the funeral wake was held in the family home. In 1914 the business moved to Wahconah St. and Simon was joined by his son, F. After the passing of Simon in 1920, Emmett moved to the present location at 776 North St. The first floor of this building was made into what would be one of the first funeral homes in Western Mass

Robert Sr. passed on December 25, 2019. Robert Dwyer Jr. who became licensed in 1992 and was a partner with his father, took over the family business after his father's passing. From holding positions on various boards and committees to supporting local organizations and charities, the Staff of the Dwyer Funeral Home is extremely proud to serve the community. In 2017 the Dwyer's lost a valued staff member who was like family, Roger Nilan. In 2019 the Dwyer's purchased Wellington Funeral Homes, adding two additional locations to the Dwyer Family Funeral Homes: One in Pittsfield next to Pittsfield High School and the second on Main St. in Dalton, MA. The Dwyer Funeral Home has a large staff, ensuring that each family will get the personal and caring attention that they deserve at a time when it matters most. As we prepare to celebrate our 120th anniversary, we would like to thank the community that has supported and placed their trust in the Dwyer family. We look forward to serving you for generations to come.

This July, Dwyer Funeral Home proudly celebrates 122 years of serving the families of Berkshire County.

Since 1904, beginning with our founder Simon P. Dwyer, our family has been honored to stand beside generations of families during life’s most difficult moments. While so much has changed over the past 122 years, one thing has remained constant—our commitment to treating every family with compassion, dignity, and respect.

We are deeply grateful for the trust that so many families have placed in us over the years. It is a privilege to be part of this community, and we never take that responsibility for granted.

To everyone who has allowed us to care for a loved one, attended one of our community events, shared a kind word, or simply supported our family business—thank you.

Your trust has made 122 years possible, and we look forward to continuing to serve our community for generations to come.

From all of us at Dwyer Funeral Home… thank you for 122 years of trust. ❤️

Memorial Day is more than the start of summer — it is a day of reflection, gratitude, and remembrance. Today we honor the brave men and women who laid down their lives in service to our nation, and we hold their families close in our thoughts.

At Dwyer Funeral Home, we are reminded every day of the importance of honoring a life and preserving a legacy. Today and every day, we remember. 🇺🇸

✨ Welcoming a New Year & 122 Years of Service ✨

As we step into a brand-new year, we are honored and grateful to be entering our 122nd year of serving our community. Since our beginnings, our mission has remained the same: to care for families with compassion, dignity, and respect—every single day.

As we reflect on the year behind us, we’re also sharing a few moments we didn’t get a chance to post earlier. From our Annual Memorial Tree Lighting Ceremony, to the Community Car Show, Light Up the Holidays in Dalton, and the Best of the Berkshires Show, each event reminded us how special this community truly is.

We’re also incredibly proud of the Toys for Tots fundraisers we participated in this year. Thanks to your generosity and support, these efforts were a tremendous success and helped bring joy to many children during the holidays.

From all of us at Dwyer Funeral Home, thank you for allowing us to be part of your lives and your community. We wish everyone a safe, healthy, and happy New Year and look forward to continuing to serve you in 2026 and beyond. 💚
