✨ Our August blog is here!

As part of our monthly blog series, we're continuing to explore child development, therapy-related topics, and everyday skills that support children as they grow and learn.

✏️✂️ This month's blog focuses on exploring grasp patterns in preparation for Kindergarten. Efficient grasp patterns play an important role in many classroom activities, including writing, drawing, coloring, and using scissors. In this article, we take a closer look at what emerging grasp patterns look like, how to spot abnormal grasp patterns, and how these skills support fine motor development and school readiness.

Whether your child is getting ready to start kindergarten or continuing to build confidence with pre-writing and cutting tasks, understanding grasp development can help support success both at home and in the classroom.

Visit our website to read the full blog and learn more about grasp patterns, fine motor development, and practical ways to support writing and scissor skills as your child prepares for kindergarten!

This month, our little artists and big-hearted thinkers turned OSP's sidewalk into a space of encouragement. 💛

Using sidewalk chalk, our friends practiced writing positive affirmations at our clinic entrance, creating colorful reminders of kindness, courage, and self-belief for everyone who walks through our doors.

Sometimes the smallest hands leave the biggest impact. We hope these messages brightened your day as much as creating them brightened theirs. 🌈✨

🐢💚 This month in OT, we've been making "Take It Slow Turtles!"

Each child filled their turtle's shell with coping strategies they can use when they're feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, or just need a little break.

Through fun, hands-on activities like this, we're helping children build emotional awareness, practice self-regulation, and create a toolbox of calming strategies they can use both in therapy and at home.

A sweet reminder that it's always okay to slow down, take a breath, and try again. 🐢✨

The Mirror Effect ✨

Check out our new bulletin board in the waiting room! 👀💛

What energy are you bringing into the room? Because little eyes (and nervous systems) are always watching and learning.

When we model calm, empathy, and flexibility - we help our kids build the same skills. 💛 Regulated adults create regulated children.

Be the example. 💫

✨ Our July blog is here!

As part of our monthly blog series, we're continuing to explore sensory processing, child development, therapy-related topics, and everyday experiences that impact children and families.

🎆 This month's blog focuses on Sensory-Friendly Strategies for the 4th of July. While fireworks, parades, and community celebrations can be exciting traditions, they can also present sensory challenges for many children. In this article, we share simple strategies to help families prepare for holiday events, support sensory needs, and create a more enjoyable experience for everyone.

Whether you're planning to attend a fireworks display, a neighborhood gathering, or a community celebration, a little preparation can go a long way in helping children feel comfortable and successful.

Visit our website to read the full blog and discover practical ways to make this holiday more sensory-friendly for your family!
