Tuesday’s Tip for Healthier Eyes!
Did you know too much screen time can affect how your child’s eyes feel and function?
Here’s what prolonged tablet and screen use can contribute to:
Eye Strain: Focusing up close for long periods can leave the eyes feeling tired, sore, or uncomfortable.
Dry Eyes: Children often blink less while concentrating on a screen, which can cause dryness, burning, or irritation.
Headaches: Extended close-up focusing and digital eye strain can contribute to headaches, especially after long periods of screen use.
Blurred Vision: Vision may become temporarily blurry after prolonged screen use as the eyes become fatigued.
More Near-Work Time: Spending lots of time focusing on things up close can contribute to myopia (nearsightedness), particularly when combined with limited time outdoors.
💡 Parent Tip: Keep screen time at a minimum. Encourage regular screen breaks, remind your child to blink, keep screens at a comfortable distance, and make time for outdoor activities!
