We treat a lot of hypermobile/HEDS folks at RituaLuna Wellness. About 20 years ago I had a client who had ribs popping out like crazy, seizures, cardiac symptoms, a CSF leak and all sorts of other things and it took her years to get a diagnosis because she was young and looked healthy. I think one doctor even told her she was young and pretty and should just enjoy her life. We've come a long way since then and it's much easier for us to spot now, it's easier to get a medical diagnosis, and the appropriate long term management of symptoms through medical systems. Unfortunately, they still don't have a cure or a really effective way to mitigate the harm these conditions do to people. At RituaLuna Wellness have worked with hundreds of people who experience these complex symptoms and some of us have experienced these things in our own bodies. It takes a special level of skill and sensitivity to offer safe and effective massage/bodywork to this population. We support safety for those with joint hypermobility by focusing on softening and balancing tone rather than stretching or opening tissues. We offer effective soft tissue and neurological techniques that help calm and center nervous systems that might be getting too much or confusing information. We witness and support those who struggle in their bodies without always having the language or the solution. We also communicate and listen to help find how your unique body and nervous system can be best supported and we respect your needs/wishes/requests for safety and ease. We honor your struggles and value the magic and wisdom that often comes with having a highly sensitive system.

As we brace for the loss of SNAP resources that sustain our most vulnerable community members, we’re inspired by our neighbors stepping up to support one another.
