Any plans NOT covered under Alma, will continue being billed as such until I am fully credentialed under your state or Medicaid plan.

Good morning from us at Serenity Counseling of Potsdam. As many of you know, I am in the process of transitioning into my own billing entity through Serenity Counseling of Potsdam PLLC. With that, I am learning that not all plans are the same, shocker 🤓

Many of you have experienced denials through Alma, with insurance that is stated as covered. I am learning that currently only commercial plans through Caralon are taken through Alma, which means I have had some work to do on the back end to become fully credentialed independently to accept those state plans.

What does that mean for clients? I will continue billing through my group practice until I am fully credentialed with commercial and state plans. My goal is to hopefully have none of my clients owe any amount of balance. 

My mission statement has always been able to provide quality affordable care for all of my clients. Mental health is important, and in an area as ours, I believe it is more important that I focus on providing that.

Thank you all for staying patient with me during this transition period! June is exciting! I’m hoping to begin taking on my waitlist clients- so stay tuned!

The office will remain closed today and tomorrow due to the flu. Any weekly clients will resume scheduled appointments next week. Any rescheduling will be handled accordingly.

Healthcare is more than medications, charting, and long shifts. It’s compassion in moments when people feel most vulnerable. It’s being a calm voice in chaos. It’s treating people with dignity when they need it most.

This week especially, I hope nurses remember that the care, patience, and humanity they give every day truly matters — even on the days it feels unnoticed.

Please take care of yourselves too. You deserve the same compassion you so freely give to everyone else. 🤍

Let’s talk about invoices 💬

When an invoice is sent, it reflects time and services that have already been provided. As outlined in the initial client agreement, it is the client’s responsibility to complete payment for those services.

It’s also important to understand your individual insurance plan — including copays, deductibles, and coverage limits. While I’m always happy to help clarify general questions, insurance ultimately determines what is (and is not) covered, and any remaining balance becomes the client’s responsibility.

I want to be transparent — running a small private practice comes with a lot of responsibility. It’s already challenging to manage the day-to-day operations, and it becomes even more difficult when I have to spend additional time following up on payments for services that have already been rendered.

At this time, there are a number of outstanding invoices on accounts. To ensure fairness and sustainability of the practice, moving forward copays and out-of-pocket costs will be due at the time of service.

If you currently have a balance, I kindly ask that you take a moment to review and address it. I truly appreciate your understanding and your support in helping me continue to provide care to this community 🤍
