Important information for West Virginia Medicaid members: Changes are coming to Medicaid eligibility requirements beginning in 2027, and it’s important to understand how these updates could affect your coverage.
Under new federal requirements, some adults enrolled through West Virginia Medicaid Expansion may need to meet community engagement requirements, such as working, attending school, participating in a job training program or volunteering, to maintain coverage. Certain groups may qualify for exemptions, including individuals with disabilities, pregnant women, caregivers, veterans with qualifying disabilities and others. These requirements will be phased in during Medicaid renewals beginning in 2027.
The good news? You do not need to take any action today, but now is a great time to learn more about the upcoming changes and make sure your information is up to date.
If you or a loved one receives Medicaid coverage, take time to understand these changes and what they could mean for your healthcare coverage in the future. Being informed now can help you be prepared when the new requirements take effect.
