Are you in a season of change?

Growth is about taking the pieces that bring genuine joy and fulfillment with you, and leaving behind what weighs you down.

Growth requires honesty and vulnerability, and sometimes there are roadblocks which can make it difficult to grow by yourself.

This is what makes therapy such a wonderful tool. Therapists like ours can help you understand why you’re stuck mentally, and help you move forward with your life :)

As always, reach out to me if you are looking for help, or anything else!

Are your friends all similar or do you have a wide range of personality types in your group?

The participant who asked this question at the panel mentioned their grandma tends to lump them and their cousins together because they are all neurodivergent. They continued that it’s so much easier to get along with people who are neurodivergent because they just “get it.”

It’s not bad to have friends who are similar to you. As one of our therapists described it, it’s likely easier to do so because it takes less energy. They just GET IT without any explanation. That doesn’t mean we should isolate ourselves, however. It’s important to meet people who are different from us and believe/like different things so we can grow and expand as a person.

So no, don’t feel bad if your friends are similar to you, that’s completely normal! Just make sure you are still open to talking to other people.

Making this post got me thinking me about the different versions of Zelda Ocarina of Time. There’s Nintendo 64, the remade 3ds version, and now the new Nintendo Switch 2 remake.

As I was thinking on just how much this game has evolved over the years, I realized life follows a similar pattern. When we’re young, we make a lot of dumb mistakes that we come to regret. We hurt people’s feelings, we don’t have enough patience, we get angry easily, etc.

The older we get, the more we learn from those mistakes and evolve. Think of your Highschool self as the original OoT, your current self as the improved 3ds remaster, and your future self as the Nintendo Switch 2 version. You have already grown so much, and you will continue to become a better person as you learn from life/your mistakes.

Now sometimes, due to lives challenges, mental illness, and more, we need help progressing to that next stage. This is where therapy can come in. Working with a therapist can help you find coping mechanisms and ways to work WITH your set of cards, rather than against them.

If you currently feel stuck, maybe it’s time to get help. As always, please reach out to me if you have any concerns. 🍀🫶

Have you ever been talked down to or ridiculed because of something you're interested in or something you value?

Here's what one of our therapist's has to say about it.

While this only answers one part of a complicated question, we hope it helps a little.

Customize your Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess inventory!

In progression based games like this one, you start with very little and slowly add more and more to your inventory, gaining more skills and tools, until you truly become the Hero of Legend, Link.

Life, and in specific mental health, aren't so different. As we go through life and learn from our experiences, we learn different coping mechanisms and ways to stay mentally and emotionally healthy.

Though some we get from experience, friends, or mentors, there are some mental challenges or illnesses that benefit greatly from therapy. Think of it as the only way to get certain "inventory items" to max out your mental health.🍀

If you need anything or have any questions, please comment or message me!

Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria is intense emotional pain that’s triggered by real or perceived rejection, criticism, or failure.

While not everyone experiences it to that degree, you’d be lying if you said you’d never gotten rejected in some sense of the word. And unfortunately, it never feels good.

RSD in specific is strongly linked to ADHD. It sucks to feel excited about sharing something, and then getting rejected.

Remember that the reaction is often not the person hating you, but simply something about your action may have been triggering for them.

And then there are some people who are just plain mean, and don’t deserve your time! Life is all about finding the balance, and we are here to help you while you do.

If you don’t know how or when to be vulnerable, you’re not alone. I hope these tips make it a tiny bit easier!
