SINUS PRESSURE + EAR ACHES + FACIAL PUFFINESS

Did you know these symptoms can all be connected?

Your sinuses, ears, jaw, neck, and lymphatic system work closely together. When one area becomes restricted, congested, or irritated, it can create a domino effect throughout the head and neck.

You may experience:
👂 Ear pressure or aching
🤧 Sinus congestion
😖 Facial tenderness
😵 Headaches
😴 Brain fog
😬 Jaw tension
😶 Facial puffiness, especially around the eyes and cheeks

One commonly overlooked contributor is reduced drainage. The lymphatic system relies heavily on movement and proper muscle function to help move fluid out of the tissues. When the neck, jaw, or upper cervical spine aren’t moving well, it can contribute to feelings of congestion and pressure.

While chiropractic care isn’t a treatment for sinus infections, restoring proper motion to the joints of the neck and jaw can help support normal drainage pathways and improve overall function.

If you’ve been feeling stuffed up, puffy, or dealing with recurring pressure around your ears and face, your body may be asking for more than another round of decongestants.

⭐️ Sometimes improving function helps the body do what it was designed to do. ⭐️

⭐️ The Equine Sternum ⭐️

Dr. Bailey has been seeing quite a bit of sternal restriction in horses recently, which is an area that is often overlooked.

The sternum is located along the bottom of the chest and serves as an attachment point for several muscles involved in posture, movement, stabilization, and the thoracic sling. The thoracic sling is the muscular system responsible for supporting the front end of the horse between the shoulder blades since horses do not have a collarbone.

Because of this, the sternum plays an important role in ⤵️
• front end mobility
• posture and balance
• stabilization during movement
• weight distribution
• shoulder and limb mechanics
• overall movement efficiency

Restriction through the sternum can develop from repetitive strain, poor posture, compensation patterns, falls, trauma, improper saddle fit, overly tight cinches, repetitive directional work, or the physical demands of performance events. Over time, repeated stress like this can heavily influence stabilization patterns, muscular tension, and restriction through the front end.

When the sternum becomes restricted, horses may begin to compensate throughout the rest of the body. This can contribute to ⤵️
• shortened stride
• stiffness through the shoulders
• difficulty bending
• resistance picking up leads
• poor topline engagement
• changes in posture
• uneven movement patterns
• increased tension through the neck and back
• decreased performance

This can also become an extremely tender and reactive area for many horses when restriction and tension have been present for an extended period of time.

The body functions as a connected system. When stabilization and movement through the sternum are affected, it can influence far more than just the chest itself. ✨🐴

Why Bloating Is NOT Normal‼️
🛑 Bloating is common, but that does not mean it is normal.

Feeling constantly puffy, uncomfortable, or distended after eating is often a sign that something deeper is going on in the gut.

Bloating can be connected to:
• Poor digestion
• Gut inflammation
• Food sensitivities
• Imbalanced gut bacteria
• Chronic stress
• Eating too quickly
• Constipation or slow motility

Your digestive system is supposed to break down food, absorb nutrients, and move efficiently. When that process is disrupted, gas, pressure, and inflammation can build up.

Stress also plays a major role. When the body stays in a constant fight or flight state, digestion slows down because the nervous system prioritizes survival over digestion and repair.

Many people normalize bloating because they experience it so often, but daily bloating is your body communicating that something needs support.

Simple ways to support digestion:
• Slow down while eating
• Chew food thoroughly
• Support gut health with whole foods and fiber
• Stay hydrated
• Manage stress and support nervous system regulation
• Pay attention to foods that consistently trigger symptoms

School is out, schedules are slowing down, and summer is here ☀️

Now is a great time to focus on you and your family’s health.

During the school year, many people push things aside because life gets busy. Headaches, tension, poor sleep, aches, stress, and fatigue often become “normal” just to get through the week.

Summer gives your body a chance to reset, recover, and function better.

Whether it is improving mobility, supporting the nervous system, helping recovery, or simply taking better care of yourself, your health deserves attention before things become bigger problems. ✨

Kids are constantly growing, adapting, and developing.

Their nervous system is processing and coordinating every stage of that development, from movement and balance to sleep and overall function.

As children grow, physical stressors can add up more than people realize:
• falls
• sports
• posture
• prolonged sitting
• heavy backpacks
• repetitive movement patterns

Chiropractic care for kids focuses on supporting proper movement and nervous system function as their bodies continue to develop. ✨

Low grade chronic inflammation can quietly affect energy, digestion, sleep, hormones, recovery, and overall health.

Many of the biggest contributors are things people experience every single day without realizing the impact they have on the body.

Hidden sources of inflammation can include ⤵️
• Poor sleep or inconsistent sleep schedules
• Chronic stress and nervous system overload
• Highly processed foods and excess sugar
• Artificial dyes, fragrances, and environmental toxins
• Sedentary lifestyle and lack of movement
• Overtraining without proper recovery
• Blood sugar spikes and crashes
• Poor gut health and microbiome imbalance
• Dehydration and low mineral intake

When the body is constantly exposed to stressors, the immune system stays activated. Over time this can contribute to fatigue, brain fog, headaches, digestive issues, joint discomfort, and lowered resilience overall.

The goal is not perfection or eliminating every stressor. It is reducing the overall load on the body so it can function and recover more efficiently.

Simple ways to support lower inflammation⤵️
• Prioritize quality sleep
• Eat more whole, minimally processed foods
• Support gut health
• Move your body daily
• Spend time outside
• Stay hydrated with proper electrolytes
• Create moments of nervous system regulation throughout the day

Strain patterns from injury, compensation, repetitive movement, or imbalance can change the way the body moves long before obvious lameness appears.

When certain tissues are under constant strain, the body begins protecting those areas by altering movement patterns. Over time this can create restriction, asymmetry, and compensation throughout the entire body.

What may start as a subtle issue can eventually show up as:
• Difficulty bending one direction
• Shortened stride
• Resistance under saddle
• Uneven muscle development
• Changes in behavior or performance

As movement changes, the nervous system adapts too. The body learns these compensation patterns and begins functioning around restriction rather than through balanced movement.

This is why addressing strain early matters.

The goal is not just to make the horse move more, but to help the body move efficiently, comfortably, and with better balance overall.

Chiropractic care focuses on the nervous system, which controls and coordinates every function in your body. It’s not just about your spine — it’s about how your brain communicates with your organs, muscles, and cells. When your nervous system is functioning optimally, your body can regulate:
• Digestion and gut health
• Immune system function
• Hormonal balance (including fertility and reproductive health)
• Sleep and stress response
• Growth and development in children
• Pain regulation and musculoskeletal function

That means chiropractic care isn’t just about relieving back or neck discomfort — it’s about supporting your body’s ability to function at its best. From pregnancy to postpartum, from infants to adults, adjustments help the nervous system communicate more effectively, allowing your body to thrive naturally.

Chiropractic care is safe, gentle, and evidence-based, and its benefits go far beyond what most people realize.
