Furnace Physical Therapy had a DAY at the Point Webster Family Fun Run this past Saturday!

Our team provided complimentary running injury screenings, connected with runners of all ages, and shared information about our Rise and Run program—designed to help runners improve performance, prevent injuries, and stay strong throughout their training.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat with us and be part of such a fun community event. We loved supporting local runners and their families and look forward to seeing you out on the roads and trails this season!

See our website or page for more information on our Rise And Run program.

Congratulations to Erica on completing the London Marathon 🏅🇬🇧

This is what happens when training is individualized—not just logging miles, but building strength, stability, and better movement along the way.

Here’s what Erica had to say about her Rise and Run experience:

“I’m really glad I worked with Jason and his Rise and Run program. He identified my key areas of weakness and instability and tailored the training to address them, which made a big difference. This was the first training block where I saw significant improvements in both my speed and strength leading up to the marathon—and it all paid off on race day when I set a personal best!”

Erica committed to the process, trusted the plan, and it paid off with a personal best on race day.

That’s what the Rise and Run program is all about—training smarter to perform better.

FBPT just got that much cuter 😉🤰👶🍼 Welcoming mothers and babies at the Women’s Health Clinic at FBPT. Your body goes through a lot during pregnancy and delivery—recovery should be intentional.

Pelvic floor issues are more common than you think, but that doesn’t mean they have to become your new “norm”.

Pelvic floor physical therapy can help with:
• Postpartum healing (C-section or vaginal delivery)
• Diastasis recti and core strengthening
• Birth prep
• Urinary leakage or urgency/frequency
• Pelvic pain or pressure
• Safe return to exercise

At the Women’s Health Clinic at FBPT, Shelby provides specialized, one-on-one care to help you feel strong, supported, and confident again.

Whether you’re newly postpartum or months (even years) out, pelvic floor PT can guide your recovery the right way.

Calling all runners! 💛💙🦄 The Boston Marathon is 5 days away! 🦄💙💛

Here’s a taper FAQ, backed by a recent meta-analysis in 2023: “Effects of tapering on performance in endurance athletes: a systematic review and meta-analysis”

Should I cut mileage?
Reduce volume ~40–60%.

Should I stop intensity?
Maintain race pace efforts.

Will I lose fitness this week?
Fitness is preserved while fatigue decreases.

Should I rest completely?
Stay consistent. Avoid major changes to routine.

Can I test new shoes or workouts?
Nothing new this week.

Why taper?
To optimize glycogen, neuromuscular function, and race-day performance.

You’ve already done the work. Nows the time to stay sharp and stay ready!
