A tummy tuck is about so much more than removing excess skinšŸ’«

When I perform a tummy tuck, my goal is to restore the abdominal contour by addressing the changes that can occur after pregnancy, weight fluctuations, and aging. This can include removing excess skin, repairing separated abdominal muscles when needed, and creating a smoother, stronger foundation.

The details matter. From creating a natural-looking belly button to achieving a balanced waistline and a well-placed incision, every step plays a role in the final result.

Every tummy tuck is customized to the individual patient. I consider each patient’s anatomy, goals, and lifestyle to create a surgical plan that helps them feel more confident in their body.

Have ni**le piercings and considering breast surgery? Here’s what you should know šŸ‘€

For a straightforward breast augmentation, ni**le piercings are usually pretty simple to work around. I’ll have the jewelry removed for surgery, the area is cleaned as part of the surgical prep, and in many cases the jewelry can be replaced afterward.

A breast lift is a little different. Because I’m repositioning and reshaping the breast tissue and ar**la, the ni**le and ar**la may end up in a different position or orientation than they were before surgery. That means a piercing that was perfectly centered beforehand may no longer sit exactly the same afterward.

Another important consideration is healing. Even if you’ve had your piercing for years, it’s still important to follow your surgeon’s instructions about when it’s safe to put jewelry back in. You don’t want to introduce bacteria into healing tissue or interfere with your incisions.

And if your piercing is especially important to you, bring it up during your consultation. Knowing that ahead of time allows me to take your preferences into consideration when planning your lift and discuss what may or may not be possible.

When patients come in asking about a ā€œminiā€ tummy tuck, one of the first things I explain is that a mini is actually appropriate for a very small percentage of patients.

Here’s how I think about the different options:

Mini tummy tuck: Best for patients with a very limited amount of excess skin primarily below the belly button, minimal muscle laxity, and a belly button that does not need to be repositioned.

Full tummy tuck: The right choice for most patients with excess skin both above and below the belly button, abdominal muscle separation or laxity, or more significant changes after pregnancy or weight loss. It allows me to address the entire abdomen and reposition the belly button.

Extended tummy tuck: For patients with excess skin that extends beyond the abdomen and onto the hips or flanks, often after significant weight loss. The incision extends farther around the sides so I can address that additional skin.

A smaller procedure isn’t always a better procedure. My goal is to choose the approach that best addresses your anatomy and gives you the result you are hoping to achieve.

If you’re considering a tummy tuck and aren’t sure which option is right for you, schedule a consultation with me by clicking the link in my bio. We can evaluate your anatomy and determine the best approach for your goals.

Before and after photos tell part of the story, but that’s not what matters most.

My philosophy is that the true measure of a result is how a patient feels afterward: their confidence, their happiness, and the smile they have when they see themselves.

The best transformations are the ones that help patients feel more like themselves.

ā€œAs a plastic surgeon, are you ALWAYS in charge of carving the turkey 🦃?ā€

Much respect to bakers and cake cutters… it’s harder than it looks! Who’s in charge in your family?
