National Mammography Day is a reminder that annual screenings and early detection save lives, and at Wake Radiology UNC Health Rex, scheduling online is simple!

If you are age 40 and over, symptom-free (no lumps or pain) and 12+ months have passed since your last exam, you can book online through MyUNCChart without an imaging order from your healthcare provider.

Step one: Log in at MyUNCChart.org/WakeRadiology and select “Breast Cancer Screening.”

Step two: Choose “Wake Radiology” and complete the questionnaire.

Step three: Select the location, date and time that works best for you.

Did you know a cow sculpture has lived at our Raleigh Breast Center since 2012?

Her name is Hope. She is one of 150 life-size fiberglass cows created for CowParade North Carolina, a public art fundraiser that once filled the region with painted cattle to benefit the North Carolina Children’s Hospital at UNC.

Cary artist Teresa Howard gave Hope her pink breast cancer awareness ribbons. Visitors have added the rest. Survivors, thrivers and their families have covered her in signatures over the years, many written in memory of friends and loved ones.

Today, Hope remains on display as a reminder of how important community connection is to raising breast cancer awareness.
