Northern Nevada Hyperbarics Inc is located on the Renown Campus. 25+ years of operation. We are the first Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy center in Northern Nevada.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is an AMA and FDA approved medical treatment where a patient inhales 100% oxygen under pressure to speed and enhance the body's natural ability to heal. Common uses include treatment of non-healing wounds, Infections, Late Effects of Radiation plus there are many exciting new uses. What do makeup, perfume, and your favorite outfit have in common? None of them belong inside a hyperbaric chamber!

Meet Megan, one of our technicians in training and a Kinesiology student at the University of Nevada, Reno!

In today's video, Megan walks us through some important safety restrictions that help keep every HBOT session as safe as possible.

Because hyperbaric chambers operate in a pressurized, oxygen-rich environment, certain everyday products and personal belongings can pose safety risks.

That's why we ask patients to:
- Wear only the clothing and linens provided by our team.
- Arrive without makeup, perfume, lotions, or other personal care products.
- Leave jewelry, electronics, and other prohibited personal items outside the chamber.

These precautions help minimize fire hazards and ensure a safe treatment environment. We'll walk you through everything you need to know before your first session, so there's no guesswork involved!

Will I need someone to drive me home after my HBOT session?

Most patients can drive themselves to and from their hyperbaric oxygen therapy appointments.Unlike some medical procedures, HBOT typically doesn't require sedation or an extended recovery period afterward. In fact, many of our patients simply get back to their usual daily routines!

Of course, everyone's experience is different. Some patients may feel a little tired or lightheaded after treatment, which is why our team checks in with you before you head out.

Radiation treatment can save lives, but sometimes its effects on healthy tissue can appear months or even years later.

When radiation affects the jaw, reduced blood supply can make it harder for damaged bone and surrounding tissue to heal. This condition, known as osteoradionecrosis, can sometimes develop following radiation treatment to the head or neck.

For appropriate patients, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy may be used as part of a treatment plan to increase oxygen delivery to affected tissue, encourage new blood vessel growth, and support healing.

If you’ve undergone radiation treatment and are experiencing ongoing dental or jaw complications, ask your healthcare provider whether HBOT may be appropriate for you.

“But what if I need to get out?”
It’s one of those questions you might not think about until you see the chamber for the first time, and it’s a completely reasonable one to ask.

In this video, Jennifer explains what happens if a patient needs to exit the chamber unexpectedly. Our team can safely decompress the chamber and have you out within just a few minutes in an emergency.
You’re also never simply “closed in” and left alone. Our team closely monitors you throughout your treatment and can communicate with you during your session.

So while we hope your biggest in-chamber emergency is choosing the wrong movie, there’s a plan in place for the real ones, too.

True or false: HBOT is only used when everything else has failed.

FALSE.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy isn’t necessarily a “last resort.” For certain conditions, HBOT may be incorporated into a broader treatment plan alongside wound care, surgery, antibiotics, or other medical therapies.

By increasing the amount of oxygen available to the body under pressure, HBOT can help support healing in compromised tissues and address certain conditions where oxygen delivery plays an important role.

The best time to learn about your options isn’t always at the end of the road.

In honor of World Teachers’ Day, we’re taking over the lesson plan for a little HBOT 101.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is about more than simply “breathing extra oxygen.” By combining oxygen with increased atmospheric pressure, HBOT allows the body to carry significantly more oxygen and deliver it to tissues that need it.

And if you’ve followed us for a while, you know we’re big believers in patient education. We want you to understand what happens inside the chamber, why your treatment is prescribed, and what your care team is doing every step of the way.
