Joyce Roberts

Joyce Roberts, age 88, passed away on Tuesday June 2, 2026 at Reid Health. She was born on March 30, 1938 in Richmond, Indiana. She graduated from Richmond High School in 1956 and was a member of the St. Andrew Catholic Church for most of her life. She converted and was baptized in April of 1959 and married her one and only true love, Frank Roberts, on May 9, 1959 in St. Andrew Catholic Church. For their 25th wedding anniversary they went on a Caribbean cruise and later took an Alaskan cruise. She and Frank went on a very special "In the Footsteps of Paul the Apostle" trip led by Father Eric Augenstein where they visited Greece, Turkey and Rome. Joyce worked for JCPenney for 42 years and was an avid square dancer for 36 years. She loved to read, the challenge of a 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzle and enjoyed watching tv.

Joyce will be greatly missed by her brother Norman Brooks, brother-in-law Larry Bergfield and nephews Norman Jr., Patric and Joe. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Frank, parents Wayne and Jeweldyne Brooks, sister-in-law Wanda Brooks, several nieces, nephews and good friends.

Liturgy of Christian burial will be held at 11:00am Tuesday June 9, 2026 at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Father Sengole Gnanaraj will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 4pm-7pm on Monday June 8, 2026 at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary (32 South 11th St. Richmond, Indiana). Memorial contributions may be made in Joyce's name to the Wayne County Foundation, Deacon Frank Roberts (St. Andrew window fund or Roberts maintenance fund).
