When Everything Feels Like a Threat, Start With the Nervous System
One of the biggest shifts in understanding emotional dysregulation in children ⬇️
When a child is highly dysregulated, ordinary things can suddenly feel much harder to handle.
For a dysregulated child, the brain may be operating from protection instead of problem-solving.
That's why pushing harder often gets you nowhere.
What your child needs first is enough nervous system regulation in children for thinking, flexibility, and problem-solving to become easier again.
Understanding the biology underneath the behavior doesn't mean ignoring boundaries or excusing inappropriate behavior.
It means responding in an order that makes change possible.
That's regulation first parenting®.
