💙 Inspiring the Next Generation of Healthcare Heroes! 🩺

What a special day at Evans Elementary School!

Today, our very own Dr. Firas Kawtharani, orthopedic surgeon at WVU Medicine Jackson General Hospital, had the wonderful opportunity to participate in Doctor Day with some very enthusiastic young students!

Dr. Kawtharani introduced the children to the exciting world of medicine, explained surgical procedures, and even walked them step by step through a simulated surgery, demonstrating it on a monitor so everyone could follow along. And the patients? Well, let’s just say they were a little unusual! 🌭 The students got to experience finger surgery, but their surgical patients were actually hot dogs! The excitement, curiosity, and smiles were absolutely priceless!

We are incredibly fortunate to have physicians like Dr. Kawtharani who not only bring exceptional medical expertise to our community but also take the time to invest in its future.

A special thank-you to April Smithson for inviting us into your classroom and for being such a wonderful, dedicated teacher. It’s easy to see how much you care about your students and the experiences that help them learn and grow!

Sometimes, all it takes is one special experience to spark a lifelong dream. Who knows? There may have been a future surgeon sitting in that classroom today! 💙
