Dr. Sean Raj explores how AI can help identify subtle findings, support clinical interpretation, and uncover more information from the images already being captured.

A mammogram can reveal more than breast health.

Beginning October 1, Maryland will require mammography centers to notify patients when breast arterial calcification (BAC) is identified on their mammogram.

Why does that matter? BAC may be an indicator of increased cardiovascular disease risk—making a finding from a routine breast screening an opportunity to start a broader conversation about heart health.

At SimonMed, our radiologists already report BAC when it is identified. And with Mammogram+ Heart, AI-assisted technology provides additional heart health insights patients can discuss with their healthcare providers.

More information can lead to more informed conversations about what comes next.

In this episode, Dr. John Simon breaks down what can impact your PSA and why combining PSA testing with noncontrast prostate MRI can provide a more complete picture.

A heart attack may feel sudden. The disease behind it usually isn’t.

In this episode of More Life for Living, Dr. Rafison explains that cardiovascular disease can develop for decades before a major event happens — sometimes while everything appears to be “fine.”

That’s why prevention isn’t just about what happens in the doctor’s office. The choices we make every day can play an important role in supporting long-term heart health.

One of the simplest places to start? Move more.

September is also Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month - a proclamation made this year!
Ovarian cancer encompasses cancers of the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and the primary peritoneum, which is the tissue that lines the abdominal wall and covers the abdominal organs. Taken together, this group is the fifth leading cause of cancer death in women in the United States.😔
These cancers often go undetected until they’ve reached advanced stages. When symptoms do appear, they tend to be associated with other conditions. These symptoms may include persistent bloating, pelvic or abdominal pain, difficulty eating or feeling full quickly and frequent urination. Knowing the early signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer can lead to early diagnosis and life-saving treatment.
Screening for ovarian cancer is difficult, but pelvic imaging and blood tests are currently the best tests for diagnoses. Increasing age and a family history of the disease are the strongest risk factors.
Talk to your doctor about your risks and any symptoms you may be experiencing! 💚

👇Reduce fat intake. Eat less trans fats and saturated fats.
🥦Eat more fruits and vegetables.
🍵Add green tea and soy.
🥩Avoid charred meat
