🎙️🎙️According to the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), in 2024 78% of new HIV diagnosis were in the African American and Hispanic groups despite these groups only accounting for 34% of New York State's population. Many of the newly impacted by HIV do not know their status and unwittingly pass the virus to their sexual partner. If you are sexually active with multiple partners or not 100% sure you are your partner in a monogamous relationship, get tested for HIV and other STI's. 🎙️🎙️In honor of National Latino HIV/AIDS Awareness Day Action Front Center and Father Tracy Advocacy Center will be having a testing event today October 16th from 11 am - 2 pm at Father Tracy Advocacy Center 821 North Clinton Ave Rochester, NY 14605. Come learn about HIV/STI prevention, and/or get tested for HIV and STI's. Food will be provided along with some giveaways to individuals who participate in the program. 🎙️🎙️October 15th is National Latino HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. A time to acknowledge the impact of HIV/AIDS on Hispanic/Latino communities across the United States. HIV continues to disproportionately affect Hispanic/Latino communities. Although Hispanic/Latino individuals represent about one-fifth of the total U.S. population, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) data shows they accounted for nearly one-third (12,860) of new HIV diagnoses in 2024. Today, we invite not only Hispanic/Latino communities, but all communities and individuals across every background to take action by getting tested, in whichever way works best for you. , , , , , ,

🎙️🎙️October 19-25 is PrEP Aware Week. African American Men Who Have S*x With Men and African American Women among the most impacted by new HIV occurrences. African Americans are also the lowest ethnicity of people taking PrEP. If you have multiple partners and/or you don't use protection when having sexual encounters where there is a risk of getting HIV, you are a prime candidate to bring PrEP. Talk to your medical provider about beginning PrEP today!! , , , , ,
