Does success really exist without luck?

We love to talk about talent.

About discipline. Timing. Ex*****on. Showing up when nobody is watching.

And all of those things matter.

You can sharpen the blade. Learn the craft. Plant the seed. Tend the soil. Prepare yourself for the moment.

But you cannot command the rain.

Sometimes the right person happens to walk into the room.

Sometimes an opportunity appears six months earlier—or six minutes later—and your entire story changes.

Sometimes the seed lands in exactly the right crack in the pavement.

We call the result success because we can see it.

But underneath it are hundreds of invisible intersections between preparation and chance.

Luck without talent may open a door you cannot walk through.

Talent without ex*****on may never reach the door.

Ex*****on without timing may leave you knocking on something that isn't ready to open.

And timing itself?

Sometimes that's just luck wearing a watch.

So work.

Prepare.

Practice.

Build something worthy of the opportunity you're hoping will arrive.

Just remember to carry humility with you when it does.

Because you may have built the vessel—

but you did not control every wind that filled its sails.

🌿 CATNIP THROUGH HERBAL TRADITION
Long before catnip became synonymous with cats rolling around on the floor 😂, Nepeta cataria had a place in traditional Western herbal practice.
The aromatic leaves and flowering tops have historically been prepared as herbal teas, often in traditions associated with relaxation and settling down. Catnip contains several plant compounds, including volatile oils, but traditional use shouldn't automatically be interpreted as proof of a medical effect.
And there's an important lesson there:
🌿 Traditional knowledge and modern evidence aren't the same thing—but both are worth understanding.
Learning herbalism responsibly means studying the plant's history, chemistry, identification, preparation, potential interactions and modern research rather than assuming “natural” automatically means safe.
The deeper the relationship with the plant, the more important the respect for what we know, don't know, and are still learning. 🌿✨

🕸️💚 OUR WEB JUST GOT BIGGER.

https://msha.ke/585enterprises

Over time, each of our businesses has built its own little circle — customers, vendors, creators, organizations, events, local businesses, and people doing genuinely good work throughout the 585.
Eventually we realized something:

Why keep those connections separated?

So we’re opening the web.

585 Enterprises is becoming a local hub for business promotion, advertising, referrals, collaboration, networking, opportunity sharing, and practical business support.

🌱 Own a local business?
🎨 Create something?
🛠️ Provide a service?
🍽️ Sell food or products?
🎟️ Host events?
🤝 Run an organization or community project?
We want to know you.

Our growing 585 Web is designed to help local businesses become easier to discover — not only by customers, but by each other.

Maybe you need a vendor.
Maybe someone else needs your service.
Maybe two businesses should collaborate.
Maybe there’s an event you never knew existed.
Maybe the person you need is already one connection away.

That’s the point. 🕸️

We’ll continue offering organic community connections while also introducing dedicated listings, promotional features, business spotlights, opportunity research, consulting, outreach support, and larger advertising campaigns for businesses that want to take things further.

We don’t just want to advertise local businesses. We want to connect them.
Different businesses. Different industries. Different communities.

One growing 585 web.

🕸️ People • Places • Possibilities

💚 Local Businesses. Stronger Together.
Find the 585 Enterprises hub through our bio and come introduce yourself.

🦌🌿 Sacred Encounters: The Deer

Sometimes an encounter doesn't run away.

Sometimes...

it stops and looks back.

Today I crossed paths with these two beautiful deer. For a moment, we simply stood there—watching one another.

And naturally, I wondered about their Lorestory.

Across different cultures and spiritual traditions, deer have carried symbolism connected to gentleness, intuition, sensitivity, grace, vigilance, renewal, and our relationship with the natural world.

Their strength is different.

A deer doesn't dominate the forest.

It listens to it.

Those enormous ears remain attentive to the smallest sounds. Its body is prepared to move when necessary, yet when there is no danger...

it remains still.

There's wisdom in that.

🌿 Gentleness doesn't mean weakness.
👂 Listening can be its own form of awareness.
🦌 Knowing when to stay and when to move is a kind of wisdom.
🌙 Sensitivity can help us navigate the world—not merely overwhelm us.

And today there were two.

Not one creature standing alone, but two sharing the same space—adding a beautiful reflection on companionship, balance, and moving through the world alongside another.

Maybe they were simply deer enjoying a patch of grass.

Maybe I happened to be standing in the right place at the right time.

But for a few seconds, neither of us hurried away.

We simply noticed each other.

And perhaps that's enough.

Because Sacred Encounters was never about proving that nature sent us a message.

It's about becoming quiet enough to notice when nature gives us a moment.

The encounter itself is enough. 🦌🌿✨

Yesterday we had the absolute pleasure of stopping into Lucky Penny —and this is exactly why we love discovering and supporting local spaces. 🖤✨

The shop itself is beautiful. The kind of place where you walk in and immediately start finding little treasures everywhere. But what made the experience even better was the owner—genuinely kind, welcoming, and incredibly thoughtful.

She even held this Rochester map print for us until we could make it in to pick it up. 🙏🖤

And we are SO glad she did.

We were lucky enough to snag this gorgeous Rochester, New York map print by Tony Zanni of Type High Letterpress The navy and copper/orange combination is stunning, and there was absolutely no way we were passing up a piece of Rochester like this.

Then we spotted the little ghost-and-pumpkin sticker.

Welp.

That was coming home too. 👻🎃😂

Beautiful shop. Beautiful art. And, most importantly, a wonderful human behind the counter who went out of her way for us.

Thank you, Lucky Penny, for holding our treasure, welcoming us into your space, and introducing us to another local artist along the way.

This is the kind of cross-pollination we love.

One shop. One artist. One conversation. One connection leading to another. 🌿

We came to pick up a poster.

We left carrying a little more Rochester home with us. 🖤🔥

Some say copying is the sincerest form of flattery.
We say competition is.
Because copying means you saw what someone created.
Competition means you saw what they created
and it made you want to create better.
Good.
Build.
Grow.
Challenge me.
Make me rethink what I know.
Make me sharpen what I do.
Make me dig deeper into my own roots.
I don't need to extinguish your fire
to prove mine burns.
Bring more wood.
A forest was never built from one tree,
and a movement was never built from one voice.
If my growth makes you grow—
we both just changed the landscape.
