I’m John McAteer, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience supporting young adults, parents, families, and schools. For more than two decades, I worked across New York State in clinical and educational settings, helping adolescents and young adults navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, substance use, and emotional regulation. Much of my work

has involved partnering closely with parents and educators, offering practical guidance, perspective, and support during what can be very difficult and uncertain times. I believe meaningful change happens when young people feel understood and when the adults around them feel informed, supported, and connected. I’ve recently relocated with my family to Dublin, Ireland, where I continue to work with individuals and families.
