Earlier this month, Monarch Healthcare leadership attended the USA Clubhouse International Conference in Arlington, Virginia, alongside two Charlotte Clubhouse Advisory Board members! As Charlotte Clubhouse officially joins Monarch Healthcare and prepares to reopen in Mecklenburg County next month, this conference provided a valuable opportunity to learn, connect and collaborate with Clubhouses from across the country.

We are grateful for the chance to exchange ideas, discuss strategies and explore ways to strengthen our services. Experiences like this reinforce the impact of the Clubhouse Model and the importance of creating supportive, community-based spaces where adults living with mental illness can find connection, purpose and independence. 💚

Happy World Occupational Therapy Day! 🎧🧩🫧

At Monarch Healthcare, occupational therapy techniques are a key part of behavioral health crisis support for youth visiting our SECU Youth Crisis Center in Charlotte or the Stephen M. Morris Behavioral Health Center in Concord.

Our team of occupational therapists use trauma-informed, sensory-based interventions to help youth manage emotions, develop coping strategies and build skills that promote stabilization and recovery. Both facilities feature sensory rooms that provide safe, calming environments where youth can access tools and resources to help regulate their emotions.

As occupational therapy is celebrated worldwide today, we are proud to highlight the important role occupational therapy plays in behavioral health crisis support. 💚

National Disability Employment Awareness Month reminds us that employment can be so much more than a paycheck. 🧡

For 31-year-old Dalton Williams, who lives with cerebral palsy and mental health challenges, finding employment through our Individual Placement and Support (IPS) service has provided opportunities for connection, personal growth and goal development. As a cashier at Taco Bell, he finds meaningful connection through everyday interactions with customers and fellow staff members.

Dalton also finds connection with Peer Employment Mentor Brian Colson, who provides support through lived experience and understanding. As someone who loves to support others and learn from their experiences, Dalton is considering pursuing a peer support certification himself, a path Brian and several others have encouraged!

Dalton’s story is a reminder that, for some, meaningful employment is not just about a paycheck. It’s about personal growth, belonging and moving forward with new goals. 🧡

When someone is experiencing a behavioral health crisis, care cannot wait.

At Monarch Healthcare, we use the telehealth platform doxy.me, which allows patients to join the waiting room anytime, even when an appointment is not scheduled. This made it possible for one of our therapists to immediately notice when a patient unexpectedly appeared in the telehealth waiting room one afternoon. The therapist joined the call to find the patient unresponsive and our team immediately coordinated with emergency services, which saved the patient’s life.

Doxy.me makes a difference in the work we do every day, reducing barriers and allowing us to connect with patients when it matters most. đź’š

Participants of our Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) program in New Bern danced the night away with friends, family and staff at their first under-the-sea themed prom! 🪩✨

The special evening was an opportunity for participants to dress up, have fun and connect with one another outside of their normal routines and experiences.

While this was the New Bern ICF team’s first prom, the joy among attendees made it clear that it would not be the last. The event was filled with meaningful moments, connections and experiences that will be remembered for years to come. 🧡
