🎃👻 HALLOWEEN SPIRIT WEEK IS OFF TO A SPOOKTACULAR START! 🤠🧡

The Halloween fun is in full swing here at Highlands Senior Living, and we’ve been having a BOO-tiful time! 👻🕸️

We kicked off the week by showing off our best Granny Glam 👵🏽💋, then got nice and comfortable on Tuesday with a few of our zombie friends creeping around! 🧟‍♀️🧟 Today, we traded the spooky vibes for some good ol’ Western fun, bringing out our cowboy spirit and saddling up for a rootin’-tootin’ good time! 🤠🌵

And what’s Halloween without a little sweet treat? 🎃🥤 We cooled down with our delicious “Pumpkin Patch Fanta Floats”, made with orange sherbet and Fanta for a festive, fizzy treat that was frightfully delicious! 🧡🍊

We’re making memories, sharing laughs, and enjoying every moment of our Halloween festivities. Spirit Week is proving that you’re never too old to dress up, be silly, and join in on the fun! 🧡👻

🌶️🏆 Things are heating up at Highlands Senior Living! Join us for our Second Annual Chili Cook-Off, a day of community, friendly competition, and chili worth bragging about!

We’re excited to welcome the Commissioner of Rome, Bill Collins as our guest judge again! 👏

Our Activities Director, Charlesha, took home the grand prize last year, and we haven’t heard the end of it since! Will she claim the crown again, or will someone finally spill the beans on a winning recipe and take her title?

Come join the fun, bring your community spirit, and help us cheer on our chili champions! 🌶️❤️

🍓🍫 Sweet Treats & Sweet Memories at Highlands! 💕

A special thank you to one of our favorite volunteers, Mrs. Jan Shepherd, for spending some sweet time with our residents! 🥰 Together, we got creative in the kitchen and made our very own fruit dessert snacks using brownies, cream cheese icing, and fresh fruit. Talk about a delicious combination! 😋🍓

After enjoying our homemade treats, we settled in for some good old-fashioned conversation about growing up, the meals we remember from childhood, and the snacks we still love to enjoy today. Sometimes, the sweetest part of the day isn’t just what’s on our plate, but the memories we share and the friendships we continue to build. ❤️

Thank you, Mrs. Jan, for sharing your time, kindness, and love with our Highlands family. We are so grateful for volunteers like you who make ordinary moments extra special! 💗✨

🎨🎶 A LITTLE PAINT, A LITTLE PRAISE, AND A LOT OF JOY! 🎶🎨

Our residents enjoyed a peaceful painting activity while listening to some of their favorite gospel hymns. 💗 There is something special about combining creativity with the comfort of familiar music! Painting can help stimulate the senses, encourage self-expression, support fine motor skills, and provide a calming activity for individuals living with dementia. Familiar gospel hymns can also bring comfort, spark memories, and create meaningful moments of connection, even when words are sometimes difficult to find. 🙏🏽🖌️

At Highlands, we cherish these special moments that allow our residents to express themselves, enjoy the music they love, and find joy in the beauty of creating something of their own. Every brushstroke tells a little story, and every song brings a little sunshine to the soul! ☀️💐

🎉 BINGO, BIG SMILES & GOOD COMPANY! 🎉

Our residents had a wonderful time gathering around for a few exciting rounds of Bingo! 🩷 From friendly competition and hopeful calls of “BINGO!” to sharing stories and enjoying great conversations, it was an afternoon filled with laughter and connection. Sometimes, the best part of the game isn’t just winning a prize, but the memories we make and the friendships we continue to build along the way. At Highlands, we believe that spending time together is always a winning combination! 🏆🎱😊

🎉🏈 Happy Birthday to our resident Alabama Fan Club President! 🐘❤️ His warm spirit and generous personality make Highlands a brighter place, and we’re so thankful he’s part of our family. He cheers for his neighbors just as wholeheartedly as he cheers for the Crimson Tide, and that’s saying something! Help us wish him a day filled with love, laughter, sweet treats, and plenty of “Roll Tide!” 🎂🎈

🇺🇸✨ A BIG thank-you to our special guest, Perry Barrett, for bringing history to life with his wonderful George Washington informational show! Our residents enjoyed learning more about the life and legacy of our nation’s first president.

Did you know? George Washington married Martha Dandridge Custis in 1759, and she was a wealthy widow with two children when they wed. Together, they made their home at Mount Vernon, where Washington loved spending time away from public life.

At the end of the show, the excitement continued as our residents eagerly joined in a fun game for the chance to win a valuable 2026 gold $1 coin! 🪙🏆 Smiles, anticipation, and friendly competition filled the room as everyone waited to see who would take home the prize! Thank you, Perry, for sharing your time, knowledge, and love of history with our Highlands family. We always enjoy learning something new, making memories, and sharing a few laughs along the way! ❤️
