This feels like something every provider should be aware of.

I had no idea, even after working in OB trauma (and gynecological trauma by proxy) for decades. Assuming from the comments MANY don’t know.

My own recent medical imaging made me very aware THAT AT NO POINT DOES ANYONE DESCRIBE THE PROCESS to the patient. That’s a really bad way to do anything. Especially consent.

Please let your patients know.

In emergencies “trauma informed” care doesn’t go out the window.
It becomes essential.
Here Jen is demonstrating “broadcasting” an essential healthcare skill in emergencies. By narrating and translating she makes the scary moment clear, affirms good will in the team, and helps protect against long term psychological trauma for the family.
Remember, ambiguity invites projection. Fearful minds WILL fill in the gaps left. Accurate and grounded realities help the mind to process.
