You don’t have to choose between working on yourself or your relationships.

At Baobab Counseling Center, we offer individual, family, and group therapy to help you move from surviving to more grounded, connected living.

In individual therapy, you’ll meet one-on-one with a therapist to clarify goals, explore patterns in your brain and body, and practice regulation tools between sessions.

In family therapy, your therapist helps each person share their perspective and guides you through new ways of communicating and repairing after ruptures.

In group therapy, you’ll join a small, therapist-led group with a clear topic, group guidelines, and structured check-ins so you can share, listen, and learn skills together.

If you feel more drained after scrolling than before, your brain is giving you feedback.

Our brains are constantly trying to make sense of what’s happening and whether we’re okay. Digital life throws a lot at that system—news alerts, crises, strong opinions, plus likes, comments, and messages—sometimes all within the same five minutes. In short, focused doses, being online can help us learn, connect, and unwind. But when the scrolling never really stops, our stress response doesn’t either.

Constant scrolling can result in poor sleep, trouble concentrating, and feeling disconnected from the people right in front of you.

So try to step away from your phone.

A digital detox doesn’t have to be extreme. Try small steps: no phone at meals, 20 minutes of screen-free time before bed, or keeping your phone off the nightstand. Your brain will notice the difference.

You’re not ‘too sensitive’—you’re carrying too much for too long without a place to put it down.

In a healthy range, short-term stress activates your brain’s alarm system, briefly raising cortisol and adrenaline so you can think clearly, meet a deadline, or navigate a tough conversation. Once the challenge passes, your nervous system is designed to settle back down. This kind of stress dose can even support learning, motivation, and growth.

Overflow happens when there is no true “off” switch. Chronic workload, caregiving, unresolved trauma, and constant notifications can keep your system in go-mode, day and night. Over time, research shows that chronic stress can reshape brain regions involved in memory, planning, and emotion regulation, which is why you might feel foggy, reactive, or stuck in fight-or-flight even when you want to relax.

At Baobab Counseling Center, we offer neuroscience-informed therapy that works directly with the nervous system. Using Brainspotting and HeartMath, we help clients notice their stress limits, address what drives overflow, and build sustainable resilience for both performance and well-being.

Everyday coping skills support you on the surface—Brainspotting helps your brain and body release what past stress and trauma have stored.

Brainspotting is a brain-based therapy that helps your mind and body process trauma, anxiety, and stress at their roots, not just on the surface. It uses eye position (“brainspots”) to reach the parts of the brain where painful experiences are stored, so your nervous system can finally begin to release and reset.

At Baobab Counseling, our therapists are trained in Brainspotting and integrate it with compassionate, trauma-informed care. If you’ve felt stuck in talk therapy, Brainspotting may offer a different way forward.

When was the last time you spent time with someone and felt genuinely at ease?

In the middle of busy schedules and constant demands, it’s easy to overlook something essential: time with people who help you feel grounded.

Whether it’s playing a game, going for a walk, watching a movie, or just sitting and talking—these moments do more than pass time.

They actively support your nervous system. Research shows that positive social interaction increases oxytocin and helps regulate cortisol levels, making you feel calmer and more connected. Your brain is wired for this.

At Baobab Counseling, we often remind clients that healing doesn’t happen in isolation. Safe, meaningful connection is a key part of emotional well-being.

Healing starts when you stop fighting your emotions.

There’s a big difference between emotional regulation and emotional suppression. Regulation means noticing what you feel, making space for it, and responding in a way that supports your well-being. Suppression means pushing the feeling away, often without fully processing it. Research shows that suppression is linked to less positive emotion, worse relationships, and greater activation in brain areas tied to emotional stress.

Your brain is built for regulation, not shutdown. The prefrontal cortex supports impulse control and emotional regulation, while neurotransmitters like dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine help shape how the brain responds to stress.

Baobab Counseling stands out for its compassionate and neuroscience-informed approach, which supports nervous system regulation and self-connection.

Safety is not just emotional—it is neurological.

Safe and Sound Protocol is a listening-based therapy strategy that supports nervous system regulation and helps the brain become more responsive to cues of safety. From a neuroscience perspective, this matters because stress can keep the body in a heightened state of alert, making it harder to think clearly, connect with others, and recover from challenges.

Baobab Counseling Center emphasizes brain-based care, nervous system support, and compassionate healing. Their approach reflects the belief that meaningful progress often begins when the body and brain feel safe enough to change.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is pause and notice how far you’ve come.

Your brain is constantly learning, and reflection helps it recognize progress. Neuroscience shows that taking a moment to acknowledge small wins can boost motivation, reinforce positive memories, and support healthier patterns over time.

Baobab Counseling Center emphasizes healing, resilience, and nervous system support in its approach to care. That means progress is not only found in major breakthroughs, but also in the quiet moments when your efforts start showing up in subtle but meaningful ways.

Chronic stress can literally reshape the brain.

Chronic stress can shrink the hippocampus, which supports memory and learning, weaken the prefrontal cortex, which helps with focus and decision-making, and make the amygdala more reactive, increasing fear and anxiety. The good news: the brain is adaptable, and healthy regulation practices can support recovery over time.

Baobab Counseling Center uses latest neuroscience, compassionate care, and HeartMath-based tools to help people move out of fight-or-flight, improve focus, sleep, mood, and build resilience.
